update time folks , 4-12-11

trying to squeeze a few hours her n there on the old girl

sat down with k to for a plan of attack for the refit ,

the prioritys are ,

wiring harness
brake servo and pedal assembly
steering coloum
tubi crossmember - non ps rack , front setup ,

fit up diff , set measure links and measure up shockers ,

so , went round to the lock up garage and dragged out a few parts for refurb

supra diff has arrived , mr whippy u wernt kidding when u said heavy ( fook me "") - opened the box to find they hadnt included the output flanges so fonecall to the brakers has them on the way this week , then it can be blasted and offered into the cradle

orderd up some tube for the cradle , thats on with hopefully this week when we can get the tube bent , daz aka cragrat has a rack for me

as for front susupension im currently in talks with kelv to buy his leda 3way fronts - on the premise a buyer is found for the rears - hopefully the lad intrested will pull his finger out

then just need some comp struts

made a start on the brake servo assembly ,

pics

how it was when i got it from neil aka bullet !

was then stripped to its component parts

o.e passavate past its best

fittings will be replaced with stainless - the abs has been given the big elbow !!

then cleaned up , and prepped for paint

coat of etch primer

k then worked his majic paint wand over them whilst i was at work today lol

all rubbers , seals ect been cleaned and checked , it will be reassembled tomorrow , the cylinder to pump link pipe im going to see if i can have done braided , but will need it bk together first ,

bottles having a citrosol bath ( courtesy of red 16 ) and will see how it comes out , aparently you cant get replacement bottles

chack straps were cleaned and painted up

turned out attention to the loom , was just a case of stripping out the old rst engine bay wires ,and a tidy up , then it will be braided - explain more bout that when we fit it

so thats ready to go in , the fuse box will be relocated to inside the car ...

wiper motor assembly will be next inline for the overhaul treatment ,

im looking for a motor cover for this ....

cant rember if its a saff or rst motor be we rotated it ,

if anyone has one please drop me a line !!!

just trying to chip away at parts ive already got whilst waiting on the parts i need lol ,

the door assemblies are in a1 condition , so they will just need re fitting , door looms are k's old ones so dont need to worry bout them ,

roll on next week when i get me 4 days off work lol !!

ohh yeah , omex 710 landed - need mr pedley to pop up and build me a loom for that lol

but decided to flash the cash and treat me self to to a new 2011 stack dash !!!

should be a1 lol as long as i dont plan on going ova 90 lol !!

update to follow this week !!

if you want clocks, there was a set i spotted that had all the round gauges in the corners with the rev and speedo in the centre, but the dials were all digital so no numbers around the edges

looked properly space ship in the dark

can't find the pics though but someone did post them up on pf years and years ago

and that pump, apparently you can get seals and stuff for them as someone in nz got a set

When it comes to wiring that dash up to the OMEX710 would you like me to just put everything in a carrier bag and give it a really good shake?

At least when you get pulled and the question is asked "Do you know how fast you were going sir?" you can honestly say "Well, I know it was a touch over 90..."

Are you using ABS Beefy?

When i built my saff i used the power brake unit, but got rid of the abs part of it,

I made a loom up to power the pump unit, and worked out how the pressure sensor worked, so i still had a low pressure warning on the dash. The loom is pretty small when all the abs is off it.
One of the brake pipe connections on the pump unit is a return from the abs block aswell, the block dumps fluid back to the pump when the abs is working, so that one needs blocking off if you are going that route.

just make sure you have used the pressure sensor to warn you if the accumulator pressure drops, otherwise if for some reason the pump fails you will have no warning that you only have a few brake applications left before loosing everything.

The pressure sensor has two stages the first turns on the pump, the second puts the warning light on.

it also puts warning light on for low fluid level and handbrake
i use a battery power source protected by a 30amp fuse and a 30/40 relay
ive run mine and coley up loads of times with no problems

Hi Beefy al going fine love to see the update's.
I saw you are using the brake assist of Sierra, And I need some advise

I'm thinking about my brake setup, I want some Porsche 944 brakes at the front and cossie's at the rear.
But in my former car the with RS turbo i head a similar setup and found that the pedal was not hard enough, I think due to the to small master cylinders.

I was thinking on the Sierra ABS pump, but also heard that the focus RS has the same "setup" (vacuum help and normal master cylinders) as a RS Turbo.
So what are you're thoughts about a good "Anker" on the car

I have a Mk2 Mondeo master and servoon my XR2 Turbo, Wilwood 4 pots up front with cossie 2wd callipers at the rear with 2.0GSi/2000e disc (there 20mm smaller than cossie discs). The pedal used to be shit on the standard master and servo, 100 times better with the mondeo one fitted.

Beef, Whats the reason for not using the Cossie ABS mate, Are there any benifits from not using it?????

without sounding funny, if you ask in the rsturbo room or even in general discussion you will get a wider range of people who will be able to give you an answer
