well ive made a decision and the new car has been delivered . its come with some nice bits including a tilton pedal box fitted with billet remote adjuster , wrc compression struts , front crossmember , wrc gearbox cradle , stainless steel brake lines through out the car , flocked dashboard , plastic windows through out the car apart from the front windscreen , wrc steering column and universal joints , lifeline electrical fire system with controller , shrouded fire wall in rear of car , wrc roof spoiler , wrc bodykit , fibreglass bonnet , fibreglass tailgate with wrc rear spoiler , steering wheel.
the car is fabricated beautifully and is in near perfect condition apart from a small 2x2 inch hole in the tunnel which wont be a problem to sort out .
still got to finish cleaning the shell as ive spent the last 3 weekends cleaning with a toothbrush and its coming up really well . ive just got to strip the heat tape off the underside of the tunnel .
iam hoping that all my wrc bits will just bolt straight on to the car so as soon as it had a new front bumper , new rear bumper and a new set of front wings it will go for a colour change then the build can begin . its got a fibreglass passenger door and the fibreglass boot is not in the best condition so I will change them for metal items with 2 tailgates used as ive got 2 options for roof spoilers and don't know if I want to get rid of the one that came with the car.
to be fair ive took the rally stickers off the car and to me it already looks twice as good . so the plan is to buy a door , tailgate , change the bodykit then paint and start to build her up and recon some of the parts as they have been used and see where we go from there . iam not happy where the battery tray is and its welded to the shell so that will need cutting out and the fuel tank tray is to small as iam running a 50+ litre tank which is also welded to the shell so that needs coming out.
I will make a new fuel tray when ive got the tank and fuel system.
so hopefully updates some and some parts will be sold and remade as they are custom built for the car and and are slightly shorter.
updates coming very soon as ive already reconditioned the tilton pedal box .
thanks for looking and hopefully this will be built a little quicker
cheers paul

hi everyone well finally heres some picture of the new project even if its the same as the old one its just that it was so far advanced in terms of the build and with the parts it came with was a good bargain as to have the old shell dipped and primed would of cost the best part of Ł2k plus then fitting the kit and blending and painting your looking at another Ł3/4k and thats just to get it to the same stage as the new one plus the 2 extra bonuses are that the shell has been professionlly fabricated by gordon vincent who built most of the ford wrc at borham and also the shell is built to wrc spec meaning it could enter competitions if i had the money but i havent lol.
it comes with a special tubular cradle built for the car and is very light like the wrc rear cradle and also alot more room to get the zetec engine in and the remote front diff .
i got the car a while ago and its been in storage so had it dropped off and started to clean as even thou the car was pretty clean the amount of shit that came out of the car was unreal and out came the tooth brush to scrub all the car from top to bottom and took 3 full weekends but it was worth the hassle even thou my fingers were bleeding.
i also started to strip the stickers off the car as even thou i liked the rally car look its not really me and the car is looking alot better in my opinion , anyway i will let the pics do the talking.
car with stickers as delivered
some of the car with the stickers off
and heres some of the inside after stripping all the bits out , dash , fire systems , pedal box , brake lines , etc etc
and the only bad bit of the car is around the tunnel but that will be cut out and re fabricated so its not a problem
and finally i fully stripped the tilton pedal box down and checked the x 3 ap master cylinders which just need a clean up , i then painted the whole thing in crackle black paint and i think that its come up really well , the only new parts i needed was the anodised fittings on the master cylinders and raceparts sorted them out with copper washers so it now looks brand new
heres some pics
ive still got to clean the crossmember and the underside of the car then i can do a list of things to do then go from there, hopefully all my bits will just bolt up to the shell so building it up wont take long then strip down and paint.
thanks for looking
cheers paul

Cracking shell. Much better sticker free. Jim at alloy fab was shocked to hear you'd sold the car.

thanks for the comments lads , I think iam really lucky to get the car to be perfectly honest as mark really was in two minds wether to sell it or not and deep down you could see that he wanted to keep her but money is money and hes got to run a business so a deal was done and thats it , its now all mine but I did say to mark I will try and do the shell justice even thou it wont have a 40k gearbox in it lol and funky diffs around.
I think it was a bargain and also I can sell some bits to get more money back so I can reorder or spend in different areas of the car.
cheers paul

good shell mate you have got. it got a fresh coat of paint and tommy never used it again after that.
it was parked in dominics workshop while it was wateing for a buyer. i my self tryed to buy it but at that stage it was out of my price range, tommy had a price in mind of what he thought it was worth , i also still had the escort to sell ( i had my fiesta shell but gordon vincent had not started it at this stage ) . i then sold escort and started my own build and it was still for sale. sad bit was tommy would have taken my budget at the end before it went to the vultures in england to be broken for parts. but i was to far on with my own to change then .
the only modd i can think you will have to make is the tunnel on pass side will need modding to fit a passenger seat. dominic did try a few slim line seats to see if they would fit but none would. as i wanted it to have pass seat fitted .
here is a photo of the modd in tunnel mate it will give you a idea of whats needed to fit a seat
better photo here mate for you
all the best with the build i look forwards to your up dates.
my own at long last is being built just from end of last week
thanks steven

cheers for the comments lads and thanks to steven for the pics , looks like i will be taking the grinder to it lol
colour will either be white or silver on the outside and dark on the inside as it was a right bastard to clean and the white paint discolours to easy.
cheers paul
