yes thats what i was thinking ,but at least now it will all be done in one go

yes it is i better start saving for the new pedal box, front spoiler,& some more mod,s on the engine while its out ,ill have to bufty it all up again
im going to paint the engine bay ,boot & underside in radiant red to brighten it up a bit as black do hide all the details .

ps im just going to go down the garage to start to take the running gear out ill put progress pics up later

before i pull the engine out i have to modify my down pipe to get more ground clearance

 

What turbo do you run on the old girl Andy?

 

its got a good old fashioned t4 same as the rs500

 

How have you got 500bhp? head mods? what ecu you running? is it a 200 or a 205 block? has it been reliable?

hi dave its got 200 block big port head bd14exhaust bd16 inlet siemens85lb injectors cooper ring head gasket carillo h section rods home made rs 500 style inlet with 70mm throttle body it done 500'5hp at 24 psi on field msports engine dyno and it will boost to40+ psi ,so it is good fun.

while the engines out it would be rude not to get the T4 roller bearing'd and one of joes plenums

i do quiet fancy a roller bearing turbo but its to much money for me at this moment & there is nothing wrong with the inlet plenum that i made & it looks 10x better but i might get a gt35 front housing fitted as thats quiet cheap to do

 

right then i been down the garage again & i cut up my 3" down pipe so i can get a silencer down the n/s of my gear box so i had to change the angle as it was pointing down going across the car which made it to low & i also had to cut 38mm out of the cross piece to bring it in line with the trans tunnel so i can keep it nice & high



i am also making a new gearbox x member to make more room for the silencer

The more time you have the better the finished car will be, with the progress so far mate this car is gona be absolutley awesome when it is finished ready for next year.

got to buy new bias box ,make a new steering column like richies ,new top mounts up front, center console ,twin side exit exhaust 1 each side,wrc block breather ,new front spoiler ,make moulds for all wings ,make new wings in carbon fiber,make new running boards ,make a multi point roll cage from scratch ,modify fuel tank ,new gear box x member,refurbish wheels x7,new diffuser at rear,new splitter at front,flat floor through out .
i think thats about it but i may of missed some thing though

I am glad your taking longer on it mate, I don't think you should add a dead line to it as you are continuosly progressing any way.

yes im going to take the sump off & weld some -10 fittings to the sump so i can fit a wrc block breather redo the cam cover ,plenum ,twin iscv housings for the anti lag & afew more tweaks & apart from doing the head gasket in two yrs ago running 40+ psi its been brilliant since

 

looking good fella n to be fair by the looks of the filler dust it may not be a bad idea taking the engine out

right tonight i stripped all the suspension off the front end for a full refurb


& the rear hubs & link arms have gone for stove enamelling in gloss black all free of charge ,cheers paul cos

 

those discs look massive what size are they Andy?
Are they 4 or 6 pot calipers?

 

hi dave they are 335x35 discs with wilwood superlite 4 pot calipers they work really good but they do suffer from piston retraction which makes the pads rattle at low speed

 

Andy Exuse me for being thick but what's piston retraction ? ive not heard of that before i get that they work there way on but how?

 

they back them selve off so your pads rattle a bit

 

it is wot it is dave the pistons move back a bit after braking and the pads ratel REX has the same problem on his car

 

the problem with the wilwood superlite calipers is that they do not have a dust seal they only have o rings so the piston goes back into the caliper to far causing the pad to leave the disc so the pad can rattle around slightly .on more modern calipers like A P they have a dust seal which also keeps the pads in contact with the disc all the time .

Thankx Andy i guessed that retraction ment they worked there way back in but wanted to know why can you moddify the caliper to accept a dust seal? or is it too much trouble for little gain?

 

not worth the hastle dave but i have got some residual pressure valves to go in to the brake line which will keep 2psi in the brake lines so it should stop the pads retracting & give me a slightly harder brake pedal have you got your rear floor welded in yet mate

 

No welded in, Ive been working on it tonight gotta make some gusset plates for the diff crossmember to chassis .
