Are the lifters already shimmed to the same base circle as the new cams or does he still have the shimming to do?
(i notice the buckets are labelled so I assume they have already been shimmed against other cams with the same base circle and just need checking)
Still quite a bit of work to do but Im sure Martin can manage it
1. Asking ME if I know how to properly fit solid lifters and cams
2. Asking Martin if HE knows how to properly fit solid lifters and cams.
both are pretty dumb questions to ask IMHO.
Not its 3.
3. I'm Aware that Martin knows how to fit solid lifters and cams, and merely asking him how far through that process he is, shimming can take quite a while so I just wondered if it was done yet or still on the list to do.

Has been done on cams of same base circle to save Martin some time, as the cams didn't turn up until this morning, so in the meantime he had nothing he could get on with, so this was something he could do while he waited .

Cool, as I expected
Should go back together very quickly then with that fiddly job already out of the way.
As Mike said.... I shimmed up a pair of cams with the same base circle and got on with grinding the shims, not ideal but I'm running out of time fast! Anyhow, it nearly worked With the new cams fitted a few shims were plus 1 and 1.5 thou, just finishing exhaust side now and then its onto inlet... I'm hungry

whats the need for the cutting? looks rusty in there wherever it is!
great progress though!
Throttle linkage had been bent to fit and was very close, we changed the plenum to a 4x4 type and its was touching so I decided the best plan was to bend the throttle linkage back to its original shape and make clearence by notching the chassis.
Thank god i havent got a cosworth just now & money burning a hole in my pocket i have a serious urge to send one to reyland for the week to have porkie treatment.
Why did you have to cut it now, whats changed from the stup before?
It didn't fit before! Someone had bent the linkage (already mentioned above!) and half the time you couldn't get full throttle, in short it was shit! Plus it now has a 4x4 plenum instead of 2wd, I think thats a couple of mm wider isn't it?
Slightly off topic but where is the iscv on the 500 inlet ? mine doesn't run a iscv as it fouls the extra injectors so I assumed the 500 one was on the underside ? or is the plenum elbow much lower down ?
