Its about to get alot more serious as well!!!!

Paid for a racecar engineer who specialises in Westys to do a morning trackday at Brands with me. He drove and assessed the car and will get it REALLY REALLY handling!

oh yes... its going to be SPASTICALLY fast around the bends!

bought some new seats for it to.

oh and new super wide carbon arches like stus and carbon front splitter...

Playskool front and rear anti rollbars... MUCH harder springs on rear.

new wider rear wishbones...

oh and tomorrow we are going down to see Big Gay Wayne and Alex and get them to design a new fuel tank (and eat cakes)

and then.... its BIG BIG power time!

Engine spec will be as the Sierra... but with MORE power dude to proper tubular exhaust manifold!!! In my opinion that spec is both VERY VERY powerful, punchy and also REALIABLE and very cheap in comparison to some builds.

BUT before that, the car will be FULLY developed with the 380bhp engine so that it is handling and stopping as BEST it can. AND also that my driving is upto it.

Then once the ONLY way of lapping quicker is to go for more power.... I will get Martoon to do a low comp big power GT30 rebuild.

Talking of Sierra. Its was at Brands with me on Wednesday. We had some fun.... until it broke the front diff casing

Soooo I let Peter take all his mates and kids out in the Westy. Guess what he wants to buy now?!?!?!

Not the ones you have as I need to mount them on rails and not be fixed, so that everyone can enjoy him and not just 5'8 (and a half) people like me!

Great memories. Still love it to death! its VERY fast on track for something that you can EASILY drive to and from the track in comfort!

BUT it takes alot of looking after due to being 4 wheel drive and heavy!

They are both very thrilling to drive hard in their different ways.

I will never forget the Sierra thundering around Combe on full chat on slicks. It was awesome.

Westy is more fun, more involving and more rewarding in my opinion.

I like small and light cars.... and they are alot easier and cheaper to run as well!

It will lap ALL day long at a track!

and if I want a big heavy bruiser to thunder around a track in eating brakes and tyres.... look below! Percy rocks on track to!

Err....

The 380 conversion is beautiful by the way. It starts on the button and is lovely tooling around country lanes in very slowly OR hammering around tracks overtaking 997 GT3's like they have the handbrake on!

when your 63 year old mum can start from cold and take the car out on her OWN no problem and drive it... you KNOW its an easy car to drive and a great conversion. Well done mate

Nice feedback, thank you mate.
It was developed on my own road car and is still my favourite and most popular YB Conversion for the road.

For the record, I think your crackers to want more in that thing! That said, since your spending... have you got a dog box?

Stu, it really is such an amazing conversion. It starts perfect, runs on cold start mint and just drives off boost awesome.

I would love you to map my T6 to have that same everyday driveability as its just spot on.....and it really is Plug and Play.

Just fit the big shiny box of stuff MSD send properly. Check everything and adjust the boost and off you go.

I already bought some really light ones....

they turned out to be wrong offset

I gave them to Stu though as they fit his.

I'm converting mine to run same stuff as Stus though so that we can switch and swap and share wheels and tyres.

When we get our own BTM (bath tub mothership) truck, it will be full of 15' wheels and tyres and slicks for both cars.

Thats the plan anyway!

I want to buy and run Caterham CSR wheels as they are WIDE and light...

Stu thinks its against the law of kitcars to run Caterham wheels on a westy though....

LOOK AT THE REARS!!! mmmmmm

15x9 and light!

Nope! and I dont want one....

as soon as I put a trick (and expensive) and hard to use and easy to break gearbox in it I wouldn't want to lend it to anyone....

and I love letting everyone enjoy it as much as me. Have a go at the next trackday mate. You will love it!

Makes absolute sense to me pal, you could never lend ANYONE a car with a R&D box, it would be lunacy!

I just figured you would love my new L8 toy.

Thanks for the offer of a drive, not driven a Turbocharged Coffin for ages!

I know... I was driving the Sierra the other day with its new R&D box and thinking 'any minute now I am going to have to write a cheque for £5k!!!'

LOVE IT - but it would frighten the crap out of me . It was a handful at what-ever power it was at Bedford .

However, what sort of money would it take to have something similar?

Mike I think you are going to LOVE it when it handles!

The race engineer was pretty shocked at the straight line grunt and could not believe how much traction it had!

he was also similarly shocked at the handling... but not in a good way!

I had 140bhp Caterhams with 185 section Avon Enduro tyres (GENUINELY had 'fuel saver' written on the sidewalls) WALKING away from me at Brands through the corners....

The guy said it must be a lovely comfy road car. I said it was, thinking that was a good thing....

He laughed

I would agree with him about the handling - it didn't inspire any confidence at all . Probably explain why Peggy was able to leave you for dust . Don't worry, I have a few plans up my sleave to improve what I have .

However, answer the fucking question .

oh and the reason it was a handful is because it has what they call 'turn in oversteer' basically a really positive front end with a rear thats too soft....

it wont POWER oversteer... but turn in OFF gas hard and the rear springs compress up and the shock goes coilbound and then round she goes!!!!!

he reckons his race car will go around druids 30mph quicker than mine

No idea

Stu could tell you almost exactly though!

He has my credit card people actually call his home and ask for Lee now

whatever it is though... its a bargain and its going to be RIDICULOUS around a track!

and very very cheap to run.

AND reliable!

coz there is nothing worse than having the fastest car stuck broken in the pits... AGAIN!

P.S whatever it has cost.... it should be DOUBLE as I have paid NOTHING in labour!!!

he was also similarly shocked at the handling... but not in a good way!

He laughed
Is it the softness at the rear that gives you the traction though?

Sounds as if this guy will sort it for you anyway, awesome thread, been fun to watch you change your goals haha
