SHAWSPEED Throttle Bodied ZETEC-S UpdaTEEEEEE 22/3/09
Right - not much in here just yet,
Here is the project car:
Here is the engine spec:
Omex 600 ECU mapped by Steve Greenald of Race Engine Calibration Services ShawSpeed SS4 cams
ShawSpeed spec heavy duty conrod bolts
Jenvey 42mm throttle bodies
ShawSpeed inlet manifold
Weber Fuel pressure regulator
Piper uprated valve springs and caps
Piper 4-2-1 manifold Mongoose exhaust and decat pipe
ShawSpeed lightened flywheel Helix organic clutch and cover
8000rpm rev limit.
Power 154bhp 124lbs/ft
Just a little project really - I've got limited time, I want something together for Trax as I couldn't make Ford Fair. ALSO - Fast Ford thrash coming up end of august, so has to be done for then.
Plans:
OMP bolt in cage
Carbon Roof
P4P Polycarbonate windows (all but windscreen)
ShawSpeed SS3 Inlet and Exhaust cam
Bigger exhaust valves
Cutouts in standard pistons
New piston rings
New bottom end bearing shells.
EDIT EDIT EDIT EDITTTT:
Spec of the engine has now changed (6/8/08)
Below is the new spec, which is confirmed!
Forged Rods,
Forged Pistons (compression ratio yet to be confirmed)
ShawSpeed SS5 cams
Crank will be Knife edged, lightened and balanced
Race Spec Head which will include porting of Exhaust/Inlet, and bigger Exhaust/Inlet valves
Rev limit set at 8500/8750rpm
A set of injectors from a certain Vauxhall!
I'm not one for guessing figures but it would be nice to see 190-200bhp from this set up with 135-140lbs/ft
Cage is being ordered tomorrow, Roof will be ordered Friday, as will the windows.
Cams are in stock (as far as I'm aware)
Bearings and Rings are waiting for me
Pistons will hopefully be out this weekend to be cutout.
Not sure when the head will go away for the valves.
REASON? The engine that is in now has had 72k of abuse, proper proper abuse. Don't get me wrong hasn't missed a beat, but smokes at high revs... the rings are worn!
AM I AR$ED? No, I'll just rebuild it.
This hopefully should all be ready for Trax 08 (About a month!) So have to move fast. There is plenty more to come on the car, but that'll be after trax.
Engine should be out this weekend. Not sure the cage will arrived in time but we'll see on that front. Whatever happens, the new spec engine WILL be in.
Like I said, not much going on at the moment in here, but come weekend should have a few updates.

Cars with simliar spec are seeing around 165bhp.
I was just slightly unlucky I guess, plus I was on Track N Road rollers.
A testiment to how quick it was, it mullered an FRP engined Mk4 Fiesta on the way to FITP (155bhp)

OKKKKKK Some pictures/updates.
This weekend the engine came out - easy peasy to be honest - it's now in bits pistons are out, crank has been sent away by Jon@ShawSpeed this afternoon - I don't hang about!
Pictures from weekend below, I'll save best two til last!
My home for the past few days - see Radio to help everything along! As cramped as it looks, there was plenty of room for me to work my way around the car - ACE.
Last photo of engine complete:
Cam cover and inlet off:
Pikey way of removing engine, but it works!
Going.......going.....
Gone!
Quick trip over to ShawSpeed to take the head off... better condition than I thought - bearing shells were in good condition too!
MMMMMMMM! Pistons PRE machining:
And the standard crank removed and placed next to a super dooper knife edged baby!
More updates in the week I hope, will be bits arriving, but basically I have 4 days to rebuild and refit.
Mapping is 28th August at Track n Road!
