Yes, i'm massively behind where i needed/wanted to be
I've got the mother of all chest infections which after 6 weeks and 3 courses of antibiotics is actually getting worse by the day...
M-Sport Dave came over last weekend and we did about 12 hours of wiring over 2 days but that's not worthy of photos really!
Few bits and bobs on order which will hopefully be delivered soon
Will try and do an update next week

I wouldn't do it though as it will certainly shorten the life of that manifold, who made it by the way?

Will where did you get those rubber bobbins you used for the aquamist mounting points? Would you think they would be suitable for mounting a mocal oil cooler or would you just solid mount it?

I wouldn't see the need on an oil cooler to be honest, i've solid mounted pretty much every cooler i've ever fitted on ally strip brackets!

Manifold was made by a chap in the states, his work seems pretty good so far!
I've managed to do a few odds and ends whilst feeling like crap (6 weeks worth of chest infection that shows no intentions of improving anytime soon )
Made a new fused distribution setup for all my ancilliaries:
Passed the engine bay to drivers footwell loom through:
Started tidying up the loom runs in the car:
Drilled the captive bolt out the alarm siren bracket:
Put an anti-vibration mount in here:
And... managed to fit the alarm siren back in roughly where it was before!
Then started putting things back together for more mocking up
Sump assemblies all back on and final fitted:
Marking out for where the lambda and EGT probes are going to sneak in:
More as it happens...

just a quick question...
shouldend the lambda be installed after the wastegate re-entry?
i would have thought that on lift-off it would measure incorrrectly as the wastegate will allow some of the EG to by-pass the sensor, at a time when the AFR would be all over the place....

I would take the view that the short-term average lambda of the gas will be the same at either point - if you send 2L of gas down a pipe, splitting 1/3 off one way and 2/3 the other doesn't magically seperate the gas into component elements - i.e. ratios will be the same in wastegate and turbine paths.

Yes Josh, there'll still be enough gas going over the lambda and EGT probes to get accurate readings!
Few more random pictures from a quick bit of work today...
Borrowed a set of indent crimpers and did all the heavy gauge wiring, made up new chassis earth to start with:
Figured it'd be a good idea to run one of these!
Which now looks a little like this:
Then had a look at the turbo oil return:
I'm not happy with it though - it doesn't sit naturally and is stressed so going to have a look at remaking it in aluminium hardpipe next week
Oh, and i adapted the thermostat housing to give me my turbo water feed!
More as it happens

Another couple of hours this evening - not really worth doing photos of most of it, i'm sure you all know what wiring and stuff looks like
Couple of quick pics though:
Got my EGT and lambda boss welded in so have the probes installed now - wiring is all firesleeved:
Then it was time to fit the custom made 13" Pacet Pro-Fan:
With these little bad boys - quick mounts!
As you can see - space is VERY tight as ever:

Well, quick update, not had a glimpse in of doing anything substantial recently unfortunately!
However, i took my power steering bracket into uni and spent the afternoon machining it to solve the clearance problem on the manifold.
Because i'm using the Focus RS water pump and the 13mm spacers to move the power steering bracket away from the water pump housing (larger than normal Focus ones), it fouled on number 2 primary and i had to grind a bit of the bracket just to clear, never mind a bolt head on there too!
So...
Put the bracket on the Bridgeport and clamped it down parallel and started to take light cuts before counterboring:
Which gave me:
Then put a head bolt on the lathe (perfect thread size and a torx female head):
Which gave me the end result of:
Will hopefully get it fitted next week!

Its a neat project for sure. I hope the Blower doesn't end up a restriction. Ive done 500whp on that turbo on the zetec so I know it alone can push plenty of power.

looking good, cant wait till you finish this
but i always thought that an EGT probe is better on the manifold side of turbocharged applications?
as the turbo being the main restriction the greatest heat is in the manifold?
i know youve specced this turbo to give little exhaust restriction with your compound charged setup, but still would have though it would be better placed in the manifold,

Sorry chaps!
Yes, as Tim has mentioned - i'm very, very busy at the moment with one thing and another.
Not touched the car for a while (annoyingly!) but i'm hoping to crack on with it shortly.
The reason for the EGT probe going after the turbo was simply because, the probes can and do fail and if the tip comes off and goes through the turbo - it will mean a new turbo!
You can relatively accurately gauge what sort of difference you will see 'after' the turbo and monitor accordingly
Hopefully the turbo will be able to 'breathe' easily enough with this setup

Oh the tips fall off, oops ah well to late for me haha, maybe once the mapping is finished and the egt's are proven fine i will remove it and blank it off on my car
dont fancy buying a new turbo,

At least then you can still use it for its purpose but not risk the turbo!
It is nice to map cars with pre turbo EGT sensors but running them long term is a risk in my opinion...

Nail on the head
I'd lost my direction a little with the car, trying to build something that would have performed in every discipline etc.
After some long hard consideration i've decided that i'd like to run in Time Attack 2011 Club Class!
By chance I stumbled across an advert that caught my eye and after the usual phone calls, emails, a visit to see it and selling loads of stuff to raise the funds - i'm now the proud owner of a brand new, unregistered Ford Motorsport shell. It has been treated to a full T45 weld in cage and has been painted after.
I don't think I could have a more suitable base
Pics:
Got a few things to sort out now to free some space up before it's delivered but hopefully will be with me by the end of September ready to start transferring everything from my current Focus
