That's an amazing project!
I found this rather nice 'cut-away' pic of an RS1700T when doing a google image search on it
Will be great to see pics of the rest of the resto' and with it all back together
Cheers,
Andy

Superb!
I love these rare cars - it's quite a treat to see one being restored in front of our eyes considering how rare they are. Keep the pics coming!
I've been working on a replica project myself - taking over from someone else. It's S1 based with some nice touches - I'd post some pics if I knew how (can anyone help?).
Sadly with the arrival of yet another project imminent, my RS1700T rep has to go - if anyone's interested in taking up the batten (99% complete) I've got an ad on the rs owners' site.
Cheers,
Iain

Hi.
You should upload the pics to a place on the internet first,
after that, you can reply this topic and place the following text:
[ img ] then the full adress of the picture starting with http probably [ / img]
(you should remove the spaces I placed between the [ ], done this just too give an example, if I'd removed then, it would give an error because the page would search for a picture.
Good luck

I will be going to my m8 again this weekend and put the wheels on the car, then take another couple of snaps, maybe even try to get more of the whole car. I am sure you guys have seen enough of the underside. This project is now up for sale as my mate will not be working much on it - he builds race car engines for the blokes here so time is not on his side. Last I heard he was takling of about 60K for the project as is with all the spares and there is plenty of spares. Any takers can mail me on gouwsr@aforbes.co.za

Looks lovely, Where they different types of RS1700T body kits as I've seen a few different ones.
Where original wings/arches etc steel or fibreglass? as I noticed on this car they look like fibreglass and its all blended in.
Differences I noticed between kits is the front grill and headlights, the rear spoiler doesn't have the middle support and the bonnet had the triangle vents in some of the RSOC pics.
Could it be there where two types of kit for road versions and Rally?
Obviously the shell, engine and running gear is original?
I personally like the way it looks, the running gear is pretty amazing, proper old skool motor

There were different types regarding body kits, remember these cars were only prototypes and varuous options were used. This kit on the car is as it was shipped from the UK when Mick Jones bought some of the remaining spares when Ford scrapped the project. Ford Motorsport also advised Mick that he was not to use any of the cars entered in rallies here in South Africa that resembled the real thing so instead the cars were only fitted with arch extensions and some bumper modifications but still running the RST running gear.
To cut a long story short this kit was taken from one of the cars that ended up in the bin at Fords factory in Port Elizabeth, the sea air had corroded the car to pieces and my m8 rather opted to buy a brand new shell from Ford at the time and assembled the car as you see it now. My m8 also made small changes like the grille and headlights as he fitted a set of Morrets but he still has the original light clusters etc. When I go to my m8's place this weekend I will find the magazine that the car was featured in CCC and also the UK number plate.
