Been to the bodyshop tonight and here are the pics of what has been carried out. I'm REALLY pleased with it, these pictures don't do the amount of effort justice, every panel is gapped inch perfect and lines up beautifully and the welds are SPOT on.

Close up of OSF wing welds from inside under bonnet
Battery tray welded in.
Gap between Bonnet and NSF wing
NSF wing welded on

Been to the bodyshop on the way home tonight as i was asked to look at the progress and see if i was pleased with it. Anyone who has been following this build from the start will know that my first intentions were to replace the rear quarters with Ford ones, unfortunately things have had to change for one reason or another, Anyway i'm now not having Rear quarters replaced. Instead i'm just having the wheel arches replaced, this in itself isn't as easy as it sounds as you can't get inner wheel arches anymore, so new inner wheel arches have had to be made out of Outer wheel arches! (Basically 2 sets of outer wheel arches bought, one set made into inners) Although being sceptical about just having wheel arches done as opposed to rear quarters, I'm very pleased with the result as they havn't been just laid on overlapped and then welded, these are a flush weld, i ran my hand on the inside of the welds through the fuel filler cap. The lip on the wheel arch has also been folded over and will be sealed so that dirt won't get trapped. Well heres the pics anyway.
All those with good eye sight will notice some small holes in the above pic, these are to be dealt with
The shot above is looking from under the wheel arch and the hole is the fuel filler point. You can see the underseal, etch primer and were the lip has been rounded.
Also we've since discovered that the O/S/R chassis rail is repairable, which is good news as it means only the N/S will need to be cut out and replaced with a fabricated new section.
All feedback welcome as usual

CosKev3 i really don't know how long they're spending on it, only the shop owner and owners brother are working on it. So i suppose when they're not busy, but i'm pleased with it so the pace isn't an issue to me! God knows when it'll be back though!

thats an impressive repair on the wheel arch, quite hard to do and to get looking original. most place as you said just overlap stuff which is ok but can prove troublesome when trying to line up with doors etc.
any idea on what the total cost of this project will be if you dont mind me asking

Chops i'll let you know when it's been done, as we've only decided its repairable not actually done it.
Wutang I really havn't a clue! I would estimate at the price of an RS500.
Cheers Nickateen, Phil Robson and sticker Paul

Been to see the freshly fitted O/S sill and i'm very pleased with what has been done. Don't suppose anyone knows if you can still get the sideskirt fitting clips from ford?

Not cheap though,Ł4 each, and they are shit anyway
Made some out of light alloy for my car, just a simple 'L' shape bracket
rivetted to skirt then self tapped to sill
On the price subject of your resto,I've got a work log from the resto on my car that adds upto 11 grand!!!!!
Full bare metal respray,new wings/sills/archs

Just read through the 3 pages mate... I have to say I'm impressed... Sandblasting locally... fabricating... welding etc all excellent, the best bt s you can see exactly what they are doing... you are gonna build quite a good relationship up with them and they will do the best they can hopefully... but its all looking good so far...

Bloody hell Rob only just realised who you are i remember when you just picked the car up from your uncle a couple of years ago (?) and i was looking around it outside RSX whil you had the indicators held in with tape and you though it might need some bits doing.
lol little did i know you would be doing all this its coming on really well and the work going into this is a real credit to you!
hope to see it all up and running soon good luck
best resto thread in ages

Very impressed with current progress I only wish I could give the same full treatment to my XR4x4.
NOSRSt, have you have the edges of the floor pans and the bottoms of the inner sills repaired as well as the outer sill? I can't quite tell from the pics. If so could can you get a few more shots of them? I have the same task to perform on mine
Some finished pictures would give me a bit of inspriation to do the job.
Cheers and keep the pics coming

Small update is that the O/S/R Wheel arch has been filled, which is yet to be flatted down, and also while i was there i helped with the fitting of the rear panel and the rear panel support plate, unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't get it completely finished.
Cheers for all the supportive comments lads, it's very rewarding!
