Project Ring Evo - SOLD! - Making 450bhp@1.5bar...
Thought i'd share Project Ring Evo or "Project Revo" with you as it'll be going round the Nurburgring on the 9th May! So - unlike my Series2 project - this'll be done and dusted shortly
Darren Soothill, a former competitor of the Isle Of Man TT races in the mid 90s (came 2nd!) and now owner of Singleton Service Station will be funding and driving the car.
I get to build it in the evenings at his place with his money
So - seeing as i started it last Saturday - this is what we've achieved so far!
The car:
Matt, one of the lads at SSS has already managed to make a start on the cage:
And while he was doing that - i've stripped our latest purchase - an Evo 8 MR FQ400 engine
This was the engine in the car - no compression! However - it will provide all the ancilliaries
Got the engine onto a stand:
And stripped it ready for the head to come off which actually happened monday evening
HKS 272 Cams - peak power at 9000rpm
Titanium Retainers & Heavy duty valve springs:
GT3076R Turbo:
Exhaust Housing:
Tubular Manifold and External Wastegate:
Couple of front pipes to chop around to suit:
Oh and i pulled the gearbox apart last night for an inspection - good news is that she's mint!
Will update more as it happens!
Sorry the photos are a bit sporadic - a combination of tiredness working in the evenings and a deep seated sense of "we haven't got time for photos!" are problematic

Depends what sort of work Rad...
We do Evo tuning packages - take a standard evo up to around 340bhp and 320 torque...
Can also do Stage 1 remaps and stuff

oh well... worth a try
no reason why it shouldnt drive nicely at all, those 272 cams seem to be the cams of choice over on the MLR, on anything from track toys to daily drives

EVO's make me hard!
I will be good to see the finished product! Also it's good to see somebody who has the funds to finish straight off!
Not like me who has to beg the boss for overtime every week! LOL!

Luke - good to meet you too mate!
Darren - yeah, getting better mate - fucking wisdom teeth!
Righty!
Bit more progress - a bit behind schedule now, but still recoverable...
Had a tweak round with the plenum and fitted it to the engine:
Mounted the take off plate for the oil temp and oil pressure sensors:
Fitted the 1000cc injectors:
Mounted the Evo 5 water rail and thermostat housing onto the Evo 8 block:
Mocked up the water feed and return to the turbo:
Fitted the throttle body to the plenum:
And tried the downpipe fitment:
Fitted the pumps/pulleys/covers etc:
Dialled the HKS 272s in on the verniers:
Few pics of the Pro-Flex suspension:
Fitted a new release bearing to the gearbox and cleaned/lubed the input shaft:
Mounted the gearbox to the block (by myself!):
And the transfer box:
Fitted the kenlowe slimline fan:
And refitted the original intercooler with a new hardpipe kit - we were hoping to use an aftermarket cooler - but when it arrived, it was wrong! Not got time to have another made :
Wahey! Engine in and starting to get plumbed/wired:
Twin Fire Ignition Amp mounted:
AVCR Boost control solenoid mounted:
AVCR Map sensor mounted:
As i went home...

NEEDFORSPEED - Good to meet you too mate - looking for around 475-500 bhp and 450-475 lb/ft on the torque... Nothing ballistic - just wanted a punchy ring taxi on standard transmission/brakes etc.
Shorty - I'll get the sootmeister to take you out... He does 8 minute laps with a hangover
