Idea of the cams and the smaller turbo is that as the turbo starts to fall out of its power band - the cams will finish off the rev range

Rightio - Good news and bad news
Good news - She fired up last night after a little tweaking and now idles and revs etc. Also moved around under her own steam
Bad news - There are still a few things i'm not happy with on the car, things that will take even more time to do properly
Sadly - time is the one thing we haven't got
We've been up against it from day 1 with parts not being delivered on time, problems with the rear diff taking nearly 2 weeks to sort, bits being sent for an evo 8 instead of an evo 5 etc. etc.
Sooooo...
We've decided to leave her at home for this ring trip rather than run the risks that go with taking a car that hasn't been shaken down to the most arduous race track in the world.
She'll be shaken down on our return, mapped to 2.5bar and will then do a few UK track days prior to another planned ring trip later in the year
There'll be more photos soon - as soon as i get TIME to upload them

Will........
Think you did a mega job to get it this far in such a short space of time mate
Deffo the right decision to leave it at home until it`s right though, nothing worse than having a trip spoilt by unseen problems.......
Saying that, mine still aint 100% either

Will - excuse me if its already been mentioned but what management will this be running on?
Slightly off topic... whats the difference between the cams from an Evo 5 and Evo 7/8/9 (i dont mean in profile, lift, duration etc) are they all plug n play so to speak, apart from the later MIVEC ones? as people always list them seperately eg for 4/5/6 and for 7/8/9 so they must be different else they'd be listed as Evo 4/5/6/7/8/9 HELP

Sad news mate, at least your part, the main part of the build was done over a week ago, shame 3rd party input, or lack of has meant the car will not be going...
Roll on tonight mate. See you at the meal..

Sorry for the delay in replying Ben - honest answer is...
I'm not sure.
I've never tried interchanging cams between a 4/5/6 and a 7/8/9 - i'm hoping to finish this car off at some point soon so i'll have a nosey into it for you then

I thought it was HKS sending me under-developed parts
In answer to your question Ben - it is possible to fit a 4/5/6 cam in a 7/8/9 engine - because by the sounds of it - i've just done it
Cheers Mark

So that was why i had to make a bolt and washer combination fit...

i will be doing it the other way round by fitting an Evo 7/8/9 cam into an Evo 5... unless i can grab a bargain set of 272's intended for an Evo 5... but with new Evo parts prices the way they are from over the pond i doubt it.
Has any progress been made on this Evo Will ?

Well Ben,
In answer to your question - yes and no...
The car has been provisionally sold to someone and so is finally getting finished
Hopefully the required funds to finish it will be made available and its new owner will enjoy battering it round

A big thank you to Will for all the work he has done on this to date, and also for the help on Saturday.
Hopefully next Saturday we will have the little niggly bits needed to finish this off so we can get some test drives done.

Well - Just to wrap this up - Corky 79 is officially the new owner
The car went to him just running a base map and yesterday it was mapped at RC Developments and the engine is currently making a healthy 440bhp @ 1.5bar boost.
It did over 500bhp at one point, but the fuel system was maxed out. Shame i never got time to do the swirl pot and 044 pump setup.
Not a bad result for the timeframe i had to do the engine

How much tweaking was done on the dyno with cam timing mate?
I dialled those cams in for peak power - which on those cams is 9000rpm territory
As you said though - it does hold its power all the way to 8000rpm!
Just going to need to keep the revs mega high if the boost can't be brought in sooner through cam timing...

Thought I'd give you a quick update on my car.
After a fair bit of work at CPR, the car was mapped to 2 bar and hit a healthy 515 bhp and 475 FT/lbs. (with the bosch 044 fitted).
Full boost was coming in at 4600 rpm, and held to 8000 rpm
This found a weak component, being the manifold, which basically fell to bits.
I have now had a new manifold fabricated for it, and it will be mapped again.
It should spool earlier, and we are hoping for full boost by around 4400 rpm.
Estimating 530-550 bhp now.
Lots of sprints planned for the year and just needs APs.
All the best
Corky

Corky - glad to hear you're getting some decent figures out of it now - it was a good base, just needed some shakedown and development!
Give me a shout if you fancy a beer sometime? - On a new number now - PM me if you don't have it
