Default XR2 project

Ive recently bought a mk2 XR2 for a bit of a project over the next few months.Just thought id take some pics of it as i go along and share it with people on here.Im hoping to make it mint and look as good as it did when it left the showrooms.Anyway here are the pics so far

pics of when i first got it

solid prtrol cap area

needs a headlight!

i stripped all interior to see how much rust it actually had, and was very supprised at what i found!!

cleaned the carpets & they came up quite well 8)

then today i finally got round to buffing the body and giving it a good polish

just need to get it in for its MOT and keep my fingers crossed

I love xr2s. Its the front you gotta worry about. I would personally go with new wings and a new front panel.

Trying to chase the rust out of them is a nightmare.

Good luck with the project.

it went for MOT on saturday and failed on headlight, 2 small bits of welding in the boot and thats it!! should get it back tomorrow night after work then over the next week ill be stripping front end down and re-painting it all due to a bit of rust showing under the passenger head light, then full service and re-painting engine bay where its had previous repairs

What a difference a bit of polish makes, nice xr matey. Needs some bumper inserts, looks like somebody has taken them out back and front.

i removed the rocker cover and air filter pan/ rubbed them down and painted them this weekend

re fitted them along with a new rocker gasket then gave the engine a bit of a clean

before cleaning

after a bit of a jet wash

managed to find a mint parcel shelf

i striped the front down and got rid of the tiny bit of rust under the lights

car looked nice now but the bodykit was looking faded now so i decided to spray it all using some plastic paint that is the same colour as the factory finish

Then built it all back up and painted the grill as it was previously brush painted in red

and just a couple of interior shots

but now it looks nice im afraid im selling it because ive been offered a series 2 RS turbo that needs a bit of work
