This is because of the fact that the late EECIVs have twin airbags and side-impact bars, so they are heavier to start with.

However, I also like my creature comforts, so the parcel shelf is made of a 20kg MDF board - this obviously along with the spare wheel and tool kit comes out for track days and the weight drops to 1375kg .

It made 500bhp @ 8500 rpm .

My partner thought that the Escort should be called Pegasus after the mythical white / winged horse, which then ended up being shortened to Peggy, hence the sex-change style name .

The Hayward & Scott exhaust in all it's glory - note 4" down-pipe, which split's into two 2˝ systems with two silencers in the centre section and two in the rear .

As those who have been to the Nurburgring with me know, when the car gets really hot, it keeps cutting out as if someone has turned the ignition off. We "think" this has finally been traced to the fact that at full chat the draw of current from the three fuel pumps is maxing the standard 90 amp alternator out (hence why the Grp A cars have a 150 amp item). In view of this, I have fitted an uprated "145 amp" alternator (actual constant output is 125 amp), which is almost a direct bolt on item (unlike the Grp A ones), requiring only the bracket to be modified. Hopefully this will be the end of this issue!

Don't be silly - it's the law to drive with music on full volume, arm hanging out the window .

So there was no issue with fuel pump relays overheating and causing the issues?

No, as these were changed to huge 60 amp items and the problem didn't go away. Having already done a test with all the electrical items switched on and the car only at idle, it was drawing 90 amps . It was then figured that what was possibly happening was that as the alternator was getting hot, it was dropping below it's full output and causing the electrical systems to temporarily shut down. Only time will tell to see if it is finally eliminated. If not, then it is a problem with the loom!

Nice mod to the alternator, keep these little mods coming!

It wasn't my lump, I just got Harvey interested in producing something with ultimate response and he started to have a play with a spare engine he had lying around . Obviously if it had worked sufficiently, it would have gone on my engine, but there was just not enough space to fit a supercharger that could produce sufficient boost at such low rpm .

Same with the Imperial Blue escort (warren i think his name is) - The bonnet looks gash but if it does the trick then fair enough i guess?
