Danish Escort Rst S2 project. BIG SPEC ZVH - 18/9-2011 Engine and gearbox DONE!! Pics
Hi there
This thread will describe my new little baby...
A Escort Rs Turbo S2 from 1987...
A friend and I bought it with a slight fire damage in the interior. Only to fix it, and sell it with a little money left for fun . But when we got it home to the garage, we discovered that the car was too good to be sold on, and i decided to make it mine ...
It had a few cool items fitted....
3 inch Magnex stainless
Complete Polyflex in the front
New headgasket (only covered 200 miles)
S&S pressure hose kit
New toyo tyres - 195/40 R16
Bailey dump valve
Etc...
Here comes a lot of pics
Some of the fire damage... Fu****g burglers
Nice big zorst
Taking her apart
99% mint bay no rust under battery tray or by the Fuse box
The same in the boot
But... It does'nt come without a price
But after a few nights with my Migatronic (welder)...
We decided to try and put some sound deadening in the roof. It is a "motorsport Edition" without sunroof ... Therefor the roof is quite noisy. But we put an end to that he he...
Before:
Cleaned and primed roof...
And the result:
AMAZING difference ...
I know its a heavy material, but its worth it. It is going to be a daily driver
This is the last picture as the car is at the moment
I have a lot of plans...
The body:
Resprayed i original White
Clean bay
Oval side blinkers
Smoked rears
De-locked
Tinted windows (one of my professions)
90's spec front bumper and rear spoiler
Rs Seven spokes in 7˝x17
The result will be something like this:
I Really LOVE this car
And for the Engine:
2 litre Zetec SE conversion with:
Brian Hansen tubular manifold
BIG turbo (haven't decidet yet... Any advices???)
Homemade custom inlet manifold
Spec homemade Gearbox with Quaife Diff.
Some kind of programmable engine control unit...
Etc
I'm hoping for a lot of responce an some helpfull advice
Cheers... Kasper - Vejle - Denmark

He he...
It cost me the huge amount of 800 pund's ...
Even with "Mot" ( In danish its called "syn", and all cars must be "synet" every 2 years...)
So that was quite a bargain

but you allso wrong about S2 aswell....
well back to your car....thats some nice work
Keeping it on
Danish off........

Hmm...
I'll take that one on me then
I was wrong reguarding to the number of S2's and S1's here ind denmark ...
As my fellow country man "Cabrst" wrote, there is about 10 S1's and well over about 125 S2's he he.

I was thinking of about 400 hp ...
What about the prices on these Garrett GT2871R's? All i need at the moment is a manifold and the turbo. The engine is going to be picked out tomorrow

Battery tray remowed... The battery will be placed in the boot
All original seals and surface rust remowed.
All holes with no use welded up and filled with "Tin" (??) Going for a smooth engine bay...
And then came the paint!!! ... Fu....g AWESOME!!!
Boot, hood and bumpers testfitted to check for color diffenences :-(... Glad I did, all the lose items have to back for a new layer of paint :-(...
Looking sweeeeet... Cant wait for the upcoming assembly...

i really think the standard of work done to cars in scandinavia is far better than the UK, you guys really put some thought and imagination in to it, as well as great quality work!
look forward to seeing it progress

I have the new-car sale-numbers somewhere.
Only 3 pcs of 3 doors where sold in DK in 86+87. Pricetag at 50.000Ł explains a lot...

Not much, but a little opdate :-)
I Wish this was a bigger update than it is :-(...
But due to a huge amount of work at the moment. No time is left for my little S2 ...
All I have had made is some sound deadening with Dynamat.
I can't find the pics before and after i painted the floor? But the floor has been painted in glossy white Hammerite ...
Original Ford water drain plugs - to heat up and stick in the holes ...
And last week i just picked up my 2,0 litre Zetec SE engine :-P (Blacktop). It's going to be taken apart as soon as possible. Due to some new bits and bobs ...

Finally!!! Some progress
I just purchased my new wheels today ... they are Keskin KT3 - Offset Et 30, and they are 8x17 inches
They will be paintet satin mat black in a nearby future...
At the moment they are fitted with 205/40 R17 Nankang NSII... but they will be replaced by a set of Hancook 195/40 R17 instead... As the profile on the Nankang ones is a littte too close to the rear bumper
And i put in some more Dynamat i the drivers side door. The electric window motor, central-locking motor and the door lock all got some to reduce noice when driving, and when the music is playing ... This might be the most silent Mk 4 around when im done??
Please remember that this car will be used as a serious stereo car in the EMMA Association. (European Mobile Media Association). It's not going to play loud, but extremely well
