Here ya go mate. Disks look ok just a bit old but after seeing someones completely cracked disk today on here and also thinking about all the extra bhp i think it would be a wise idea to do the brakes. What would you do pad wise aswell mate.
ps Do you like the 4 different wheel nuts lol. Its an old pic as its got all new studs and nuts now. last owner was obviosly too tight to buy a set of wheel nuts.

Just a few Safety "Issues"... it looks like you have your clutch cable running through the Exhaust manifold !!!
what are you doing with the wastegate out let ??
And a bit of Heat Management would help..
Best of luck

Mate i wish you was down here lol. Seems like intrest in cosworths in essex is waining. or everyone wants to give 3 grand for one and get the blloke round the corner to rebuild it in his shed.
When i bought my first one everyone and their dog was intrested down here but now it just seems like people are moving on. Or obsessed with rs turbos.
Seems like when you go big power you really do need to know someone extremely reliable as whoever i ask to help me out seems to just not be intrested.

Have you tried Grove Garage? Very helpful and gives good advice.

Well im pleased to say
CAR IS NOW RUNNING.
held at 2500 revs for 30 mins very late last night in a friends workshop. As dennis has pointed out the clutch cable welded itself to the inside of the manifold so will buy a new one today. Had a couple of very small leaks but nothing to worry about.
ENGINE SOUNDS EXCELLENT.
Oil pressure switch is obviosly fooked as the light just wouldnt go out so we strapped a gauge on it and its making excellent cranking oil pressure so also need a new one of them. Its fitting it whats the bastard problem. Ill do 50 miles hopefully today, then change the oil. Flush the rad and refill with anti freeze mix.
Then get on to doing 500 miles
Im really thinking of sticking with pectel management just with siemens injectors. I know its dated but it seems to be doing the job for a lot of people.
But we will see once its run in.
Oh and yes i think i will take it to grove for setting up on the greens once its run in just so ive got 330 bhp until i get management sorted.

Just an update to the starting. Have decided not to do the 50 miles yet as i cannot get anyone to set fueling at mo.
Sorted out all the leaks and clutch cable problem. slight puff of black smoke and end of exhaust is quite sooty so i am not Running it until i know fueling is perfect which i will hopefully set at a mates mot station tommorow.
Would anyone advise putting it into somewhere like grove garage just for a set up before running in or will just adjusting the Fuelling on the machine be enough.
Also i didnt set the crank sensor ive heard this will make it run with black smoke.
Does it have to be 40 thou away from a stud? Any info would be great.
Also not changed the oil pressure switch yet so i will grab one. Suprised its fauly though has anyone else had a dodgy pressure switch

Right....
After a lot of messing about and misfortune the car is now 200 miles up the country at martins.
I hope he updates this thread accordingly. I will try and update the thread as much as i can while the car is away.
Car is already booked in to have new sills and rear arch repairs. They are not bad but dont like rot and have a man that does an exceptional job.
Also have a dent man that will remove the pinhole in the door and a couple in the boot. Then car should be pretty clean.
Im going to have all arches modified for better clearennce because i like the wider stance.
Im really hoping to have this run in and pushing 600bhp by end of april.
Car is in very safe hands and so far cannot recommend Martin enough.
No messing about.....
Streight in.
car would have been in bodyshop tommorow if it was not for this turn out. Anyone following my other thread will know exactly what im talking about.

Right Ill try and give you a sizeable update. No pics Though.
First of the engine that was built by TDI is little more than a joke. When first discussed we spoke about a 500bhp engine. Within the first week as im sure anyone following this thread noticed this had changed to 550bhp due to the fact of going for a gt35 turbo.
This was all told to the engine builders.
When the engine was stripped this week Martin at reyland found that there was no way it would make 500bhp let alone 550bhp
Compression Ratio (measured extremely accurately) 8:34:1 (I THINK. Martin will let me know if im wrong). Which is a joke and im 90% of tuners opinion would not make 500 reliably.
The head gasket is cheapo 3 layer metal one instead of the 4 layer to withstand such power (which they charged me Ł350 for). 4 layer best gasket you can get is Ł275 from reyland.
The head porting is shocking. Martin seemed genuinely gutted for me when he examined the head. It is extremely lightly ported (he has the measurements) and once again would not even make 500bhp and would drive like shit. The terrible head work coupled with the appauling cam choice makes for a catalogue of fuck ups that im suprsied if anyone would forgive on a 5 grand engine. Let alone a 9 grand one.
the oil pump is a copy standard one, About the only thing they actually did that they said they would is ARP bolts throughout. Even the balancing is not right due to them not balancing the clutch cover with it. They never even asked for clutch cover.
The block is on its last bore also which is not a problem due to it actually raising displacement to 2050cc but still should have been informed.
No diff strengthing cover that we talked about either.
Its an absoloubt joke and anyone that trusts TDI needs there head looking at. The car is now at Martins. And at the end we will be making 600bhp.
The wossner pistons are coming out and will be for sale very soon.
revised Spec is
2050cc 200 Block
Long Studded Line Bored And Fitted with ACL Race Bearings.
Standard Unground Crank With Shot peened Rods
Reyland Spec Camshafts.
Reyland spec Cosworth Forged pistons as used in his 700bhp Escort
Reyland spec head Flowed and ported for 600bhp With matching manifold ports.
4 Layer Mountune Gasket
Balanced Bottom End
ARP Bolts Throughout
New Lifters Bronze valve guides and kent double valve springs
4x 1000cc Injectors
Distributorless Ignition
Sweedish Style Plenum (inlet Manifold)
Gt35 Turbo With tial external wastegate
Unsilenced Screamer Pipe lol (maybe)
Uprated Front Diff Cover.
Four inch strieght through scorpion exhaust
Modified 2 wheel drive manifold
500 Style cooler With Pace alloy radiator and High performance fan kit
Silicone Hoses and considering mod to have air filter down by wheel.
Twin Fuel Pump set up with aftermarket fuel pressure regulator
Leda Adjustable Coilovers Big brake Kit on the front.
Thinking about a big wing sump but im not gonna do many track days.
I think thats everything but there could well be more.
So onwards and upwards then Finished with paying people lots of money when they dont know what there doing and will use martin 200 miles up the country from now on.
Alraedy in talks with A certain magazine and hope to be at the show season this year, if it all gets done by then.
Will follow up with pics as soon as i can.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
really pleased you have got the car in the right hands now mate.
just a severe kick in the gonads to take first for you.
looking at the spec tho now its going to be a monster
can martin not supply you with an engineers report that could help towards legal action to recover some money or is it not worth the grief? as does seem they have took the piss.

Dunno if its worth the grief mate. Problem is you need a report to say that it wont make 500hp. the y will say that it would have if i let them finish it with the mapping etc.
So you are up against it from the off.
they have had plenty of oppertunity to offer me some money back as good will gesture and then all the posts would be took down. But nothing so they obviosly care not for there reputation.
i hope others learn from my mistakes.

Glad to hear that Martin is doing a proper job on the engine now mate, but seriously, if i'd just done 12k down some cunt that fucked things right up I would NOT be letting it go lightly!
I'm almost confused that you don't seem bothered by this!

No i dont but unfortunately im not a millionaire.
Will get the front diff casing and each time something breaks i will upgrade it. hopefully i can get the bits to last a while by not launching it or going hard into 3rd (gearbox).
I have plent of space to store the car while its being repaired. im not silly im pretty sure the drivetrain is not going to last.

How upsetting in this day and age.My mate has a backstreet garage and pays insurance in case say someone puts a timing belt on wrong and the engine requires replacement etc, so IMHO i would be pretty certain a large firm like this would have a similar policy meaning this problem could have been sorted out under the radar leaving you happy with a refund and them not really out of pocket, with the insurance company picking up the tab.I do a bit of car trading myself and even if i sell an absolute shitter, the same words i always say to people, phone me if it goes wrong,we will sort something out. But these people have taken an obscene amount of cash and dont seem in the least bit bothered by it?
From what you have said in the post, there were certain components fiited that you were charged for but inferior items supplied in their place, surely some grounds for a valid complaint? As for "paying them a visit", as nice as it would feel, far better to hit people in their pockets as you would never get any cash back after something a little naughty had happened!
Not sure if you have such a thing where you live, but in Wales we have a program called The Ferret who will investigate things like this for you, bit like the old "thats life" thing, but without that big toothed Esther Rank-sten bird!
Stunning looking saph,i`ve just bought an ebony one myself, albeit not in anything like that condition!! I`m sure it will all work in the end, best of luck,Vaughan.
