Any time, its hard to explain over txt what i did, alot of people have asked how i did it. I`ve found a pic of the belt set-up, i used a mk5 escort alt bracket spaced away from the block, and a cut-out for the wayer pump outlet....

I`ve been thinking about more power, so spoke to Simon, and just looking at collecting parts for a turbo conversion!! And will be knocking on the door of 300bhp.
It was just a quick conversation and we came up with this.

CR- Simon knows
GT25- not decided on spec yet
FRS exhaust manifold
Sitech racing inlet
FMIC

Also not realy sure about the vvt, to use it aswel or blank it off....
Would be interesting to see what its like with vvt+turbo!

keep the vvt i really don't know why everyone says bin it off .i still run it and it give the best of both worlds ie use it to bring the turbo in early and again at the top end and you will still be making power on the rev limit !!well i am and that's 7800k

Even if you dont run VVT you dont have to blank it off, just leave it on, oil pressure keeps it closed and it runs as normal.

that is not right!
I you leave the vvt only disconnected, the cam goes into the following high tourqe position!
The engine runs like this, it runs realy nice. but it dosnt have much power.
the engine does have no valve ??overcuting?? (i just know the german word, thats the translation!) when the vvt is disabled and not manualy seted!

Cheers Mark ( www.ST2000.de )

im not on standard internals but a lot of people say they are good for 300hp but how Manny of them have proof of that!
bhp don't want to say till i go back on the dyno in January, boost 20psi all the way to the limiter, custom inlet and custom exhaust manifold, and turbo is a custom spec-ed gt28.

Nice project you have going here!

With a stock internal ST170 your hp goal is good for 350hp.

I have seen some stock internals st170's up in the 370-380hp that is pushing it though.

Yeah he's running on the standard rods and pistons.

I believe he had his tuner turn up the boost and ran a higher octane for this dyno run.

But I think he had 2 tunes done, the 390hp one is his track tune and his daily drive around tune is at 330-340hp.

So I may have lied Sorry...

After talking to my parts guy today he said that this guy does have his lower end built. I thought for sure when reading his thread that he only had a boost-a-pump, CFM IM and 60lb injectors

Boost for his 330hp is at 17 lbs.

Boost for his 380-390hp is at 20lbs.

Neil just noticed the reply

Im going ST170 engine using the VVT at the moment, with Delorto 45's and weber Alpha 3D management

Once the cars built up and running again, Ill then use it for a couple of events to check the new suspension and brakes are all set up OK, before going for new cams and verniers , and maybe a wee update to the management, Ill wait and see

Ill put some pics of the engine all built up for you to see tomorrow, just finished it tonite, with my take on the water pump solution

Why not just use the standard manifold?

You should just bolt a turbo to the focus manifold, looks like its askin for one lol
