Right here we go....
God having a baby is time consuming!..... After 6 months i finally have
some time again to work on the Escos..
I pulled the old girl out the garage and gave it a wash off as it was
covered in dust and cack !..
I have have friend who is going to paint the rear bumper, new morrette
surrounds and the rear spoiler now.
I have also purchased a few more parts:
Genuine Ford Long Kick Panels
Genuine Ford Windscreen Valance
Mike R Turbo Filter and Braided Hoses
New SPA Sender for the Oil Temp
Crome Idle Control Retainer
New 10 Core Motorsport Leads
I am gettin the AP discs annodised within the next couple of months as
they have tarnised with the heat.
I am going to get it on axle stands this weekend coming, bumpers off,
wheels off and get painting the under side.
I had a lil xtra help to
I just have to teach her to use a socket set rather than a rattle..lol.
I also have taken the plunge and bought another set of Nomad Rear Lights
just incase manage to break them..
as i have to get this repaired !
did not see a poxy post behind me
Will post some more updates over the weekend..

Another Update.
Time to remove the front and rear bumpers and the wheels ready for the new suspension.
Time to remove the front brakes, callipers are loose ready to come off now
I made a start on stripping down the rear suspension too.. Everything seems that lil more difficult on the escos compared to my saph
All the carpets had to come out !!
I now have all the new kit out ready to go on now:
Going to drop off the old suspension, give the underside a going over with
the chassis paint and remove the from and rear antil roll bars and refit with
new poly bushes.
Drop the rear beam and give it a paint, and fit the grooved and drilled discs, fast road pads & Group A Wheel Studs
I have decided to fit my spare brake lines too, dont want one to break just after i get it
back on the road !!!!
Got it all to do....

Quick Update..
Stripped all the brake callipers & discs / old braided brake lines.
springs and shocks off the car sunday !
what a bitch ! everything was rusted on
Just have to drop the rear beam now give it a good wire brushing and start
re-painting, i did paint some before but was not soo good as i could not get
in everywhere, much easier now
Only prob is i now have to buy two new rear callipers
either because it has been stood up or they were on their way out, but it
has the typical non moving handbrake. Cant be assed to try and fix them
as i had endless probs on the saph and ended up buying two new ones
after 5 ! second hand ones .
I have a couple of current pics, will post them up l8tr.
Got the day off Thursday so hoping to do some more and pick up my new
callipers

Well i tried to remove the rear beam today from the chassis..
One side of the beam unbolted from the chassis no probs..
HOWEVER !! The main rear beam bolt came out no probs.. BUT... !!
Both captive nuts broke free on the drivers side
I tried every thing to remove them properly, but needed fingers of a two year
old to get thru the holes
So fook it after 2hrs of trying, out came the hack saw, bent the plate round
and cut the fookers off
The beam is now on the floor at last, the front suspension is ready to come
out next, lets hope that goes a bit smooother
I think i am going to have to get a smalll plate made up with two nuts welded
to it to drop thru the hole for the beam support plate to bolt to.

A few more updates from yesterday and today...
Finally removed the rest of the front suspension, anti roll bars and tca's
going to give them a rub down and re-paint.
Its starting to look like a used parts bin in my garage now..lol !
I was going to remove the rear beam completely, but decided to paint it with hammerite smooth
in situ as i dont really want to strip the whole beam down and have it powder coated atm.
pic of the offending rear beam mount . I am going to get a plate and nuts made up to
drop into the side so i can use the correct ford bolts rather than aftermarket ones.
I have to give this all a spruce up, is lookin a sorry mess
After removing all the suspension i thought i would do some more to the engine bay for a change !!.
Removed the fuel rail and line, ancillary pipe and some of the wiring to make things a bit easier to
get to.
BUT i thought i would have a look and the fuel lines whilst i was at it and OH DEAR !
WTF was this bodge ! Hidden behind the BRAIDED Breather Hose !!
Not only is a a bodge, but the braided hose was rubbing on the petrol hose ! Recipe for DISASTER !!!
Soo glad i found it !..
I have to order some new TCA bushes this week, the others were ok, but might aswell get some
new ones whilst i am at it.
I am almost at the point now where i have stripped everything off i intended to
and a bit more i did NOT !..
So hopefully i can get the parts painted and back on soon

Right had a good day on the Escos Sunday, I was trying my hardest nto to remove the
rear beam but............ I first tried to get a wire brush and even bought a circular brush to go
on the drill........ After reading a few posts ! R5COS !! i Blame you for the following pictures !
I knew unless i removed the rear beam and stripped it down completely i would not be happy so !
as you can see i gave it a hour on one side to see if i could get it looking right, but no !
Out it came ! The abs sensors came our really easily and so did the prop bolts.
I was going to start stripping it down, but sat there for a min and oh dear......
the full underside resto idea came over me... I decided there and then to do the full monty.
next the zorst had to come off.
Gave it a quick wash so i could give it a polish on night this week.
Right back under the car armed with my full socket set to see what else i could remove.
it now looks like this.
After a bit of humming and haring...... I realised how the under tray heat shield came off.
And it was a state
After some degresent and a jet wash, and a hours labour..
Now i was getting carried away ........lol....
I have made a start on the fuel lines, they too are in a bit of a state.
All the dam clips are broken and i found yet m ore cable ties.. Proper job ay boys
These are the next bits to remove, hope fully next sunday.
I have never removed a gear box in a 4wd car, should be fun !
I have however taken heed from others on pf who have used the vinegar treatment on parts.
I must admit i was sceptible about it, but thought sod it...
So as above the parts had been soaking for four days.
and............................................... ......
They are came out quite well, they look a bit more rustier now, due to me leaving them
out to dry in the sun, however a quick wire brush it will be all good.
I am now planning a full under body rub down and more than likely a few coats of black hammerite.
i don't want it too shiny and new other wise i will never want to drive it. I just want it
to look fresh and clean
I have been at ford today ordering some more new bits and bobs for the car, so parts dotn seem to be in service
any more, so will have to go on the hunt for some good s/h items.
Untill next sunday.....
