Bumper & splitter have worked very well, Mirrors are cool and to be honest if it was anyone but you I would say the roof is a step to far but I think you will pull it off as I thought the same about the bumper and it looks stunning

Will the roof be full carbon or fibreglass backed or maybe a honeycomb matt layed between two layers.

Are you planning on laying this over the existing roof or removing the metal panel ?

Thats a cool mould. Might be able to make some money selling these unless you want to keep your car exclusive.

Full carbon mate ,on mine i will be bonding this over my skin ,but if you were going for ultimate lightweight you can cut off the old skin and bond this on with more layers added

Dave, what is a vague price of the roof including the full costs of having the mould made up?

just im at the stage right now of seriously considering having the roof chopped off for a non sunroof roof - so just weighing up the options etc.

it wont save you much kelv as its a skin.so the only wieght saved is losing the sunroof but adding the carbon on(ok lighter) but wont get you loads will it.willlook hard though

Neil, im just wanting to weigh up the pro's on con's at the mo.

i know its not going to give me a huge weight saving, but dependant on costs its something id really like to do.

and with the car having alot of body work at present it seems to be the ideal oportunity to tackle this all at once - what with a new tailgate, doors, wings and bonnet going on - a new roof wont really hurt the situation

plus, if i have no sunroof, then i wont be able to get thrown thru it if i roll this escort like the last one

Hi mate thats the gel coat that goes on before the fiberglass ,makes the mould smooth for when the carbon gets layed in to it ,plus it helps when removing it as its smooth .

Dave,

As ever top work fella!

I know there are two part bonding adhesives out there that people use instead of welding, where perhaps access is impossible. They are stronger than a weld and contain glass beads to ensure you cannot over clamp them and squeeze all the adhesive out.

They bond most materials also. Dont think they are cheap ,but not silly money. May help you with the bonding on, but I am sure, knowing you, you have it all in hand anyway!
