Bit of an update..lol.....
i plan to sit the engine on the mounts with no alteration at all,
as i'm going to use a pedal box, the only obstruction is the bulk head, and i think i have now solved that too now

After last track day at combe i had a new noise, final found out what it was
CRACKED MANIFOLD , must have be touching the bulkhead...oops

one of the bolts had snapped on my gearbox mount, so welded on a new bolt

Welded up the cracked exhaust manifold

wel decided to give the whold engine bay a lick of paint, so most of it is out

Bought a 309 ARB and sent it off to get powder coated, looks OK,, bit pitted in areas but overall i'm happy with the job

can you tell the difference between the RJ's? one is 4x as expensive as the other?

We had to do the same with the strut tops on ours, but for different reasons.
On the old one, the tops had domed that much from heavy landings etc. that the bolts were rattling on the bonnet, its a wonder they didn't come though!
Are you still using the satndard gti wheel btw? do you not find it the most uncomfortable steering wheel ever made?
we swapped it for this:

had a few hours spare, so rubbed the bay down a little, and gave it some no rust stuff and etch primer, and some normal primmer
it's not going to be the best of jobs, as it's getting done quick but should look a bit better
her are some random shots

now i have a small issue, i want to put the aero catch on the rear, but the very end of it will not be flat with the tailgate, would this look stupid? even if i was to take up the gap with some black polyuthrene sealent?
here the issue
