My trackday RS1600i Turbo - UPDATE 03/07/07
Been meaning to do a resto thread in here for ages and since im bored at work with not alot to do because its my last day before x-mas i thought I would take this opportunity.
Im a big fan of Mark 3 escort's you see and ive had many over the years including the one im restoring/rebuilding at the moment!!
Here some of my previous ones:
This brings me nicely onto my current one. Now here it is a few years before I brought it:
Unfortunately it didnt arrive to me this way - it came as a rolling shell complete with doors, glass etc.
Now i'd had a good look round it before I brought it but you can never find everything thats wrong with it until you start stripping the paint and underseal off.
It needed a new battery tray, cross member and some repairs to the floor pans and a small repair to the rear chassis leg. Nothing to major!!
Now the plan with the car is to build a fast road/track day car but i did want the car to be strengthened as ive had problems with the inner wings and bulk heads before on Mark 3 escorts so it was decided to seam weld most of the shell and add a roll cage.
All the front end repairs are now complete.
Floor repair
More seam welding.
Added some paint to the inner arches and bulkhead areas. No going for an amazing finish as its going to get used in all weathers when finished!!
Roll cage has arrived and is assembled in position in the car ready for welding!!
I have also assembled the front suspension and brakes getting ready to get the shell rolling!!
A quick picture of underneath
And thats about where im upto today!! Got loads still to do as you can imagine but its getting there!!
Thanks for reading

**UPDATE**
Okay ive been busy over the x-mas break and things have been progressing very nicely for the car!
Finally got the shell rolling!
Sitting nice and low on the back with the coilovers! 8) Will probably raise it a tad as its probably a bit too low if im honest.
So with the shell rolling I could push the car out of the garage and get the engine crane, engine, box in to be fitted!
So here's the engine
Here's the engine complete with gearbox (Box all nicely painted as you can see!)
And the engine finally in the bay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No pictures of it actually being fitted as I was fitting it on my own and was to busy actually fitting it to take any pictures!!
And this is how it sits at the moment complete with front spoiler and one spot light bracket! Run out of M6 nuts for the other one!
