what manifold and turbo did you go for? the jabba ones are notorious for cracking and the ihi turbos for warping the exhaust housings. I'm in the process of changing mine due to a cracked manifold but i dont have much hope of it asting to long tbh but we'll see i suppose lol

Been a long time.. The IHI turbo failed mid 2010 and at that I couldn't be arsed with it so into storage it went. Fast forward to Dec 2016 and I get an email asking if I still have the car and if so can it be bought. That email made me think about the car and instead of selling I have decided to fix it up and make it a more focused track car. The car was fast on track but the suspension was tarmac rally stuff so it didn't handle the way I wanted. Anyhow a plan has been put together heres the plan:

Rebuild the engine with new pistons and crank to give 2 litre capacity (up from 1800cc), IHI ball bearing turbo binned in favour of a TD05 18G, Quaife ATB diff being swapped for a gripper plated, stiffer engine mounts, Dunlop DZ03 tyres, new brake discs on the front, vented rear brake kit and a set of AST 2 way coil overs with canisters with much stiffer poundage springs (as per the ZR race cars). Hopefully this will all result in a different handling animal. Pics will follow but it looked real sad a couple of weeks ago..

Yeah 400 plus is easy but I only want a solid 350hp, that will be enough.

I used to do a lot of track days with Trevor Reeves who won the rallycross world champ, he taught me a lot and I had my first off with him in the car at high speed....he ran a mk1 gold with a trick 20v and I remember him bowing away a well driven f40 at good wood, that had 350 / 400 20v. His 70 yr old dad, Maurice used to peddle it well too.
