Out of interest why do all the arch mods and then only fit 215 and 235 wide tyres?

Having messed about myself the front is a bit of a mare really as there is no 225 that will go as they are all horrible on the profile and 235 is too wide.
On the rear I am supprised Ronnie never went for a 245 as with the mods done to allow for 18's i'd have thought the 245 would clear easily..

 

 

Your right there Gav there is deffo the room there to go for more, maby next time round i guess..

As Gav said mate fronts come in stupid profiles. Will Definately be going wider on the back next time around


I got 235's as I didn't want to get the 245's and find they wouldn't fit. So I'll definatley be getting them next time round.

New rear tow strap fitted.

 

With the spacing at the front a 235 should fit, its does on Lincoln's car. The rear should get 245's under there. I manage to run a 235 on the back of my Saph with no arch mods and soft road spec suspension without problems.

I just dont see the point of doing all that work and getting 9inch wheels to run skinny tyres.

EDIT: Just read the above post Ronnie, did they not do a 235/40?

I have a 245.40.17 part worn I bought just for sizing so once the car is back from the bodyshop I will get it in the post to you so you can try it mate..
Also have you trimmed the metal lip on the rear arches??

It's all down to how much you want to cut the car up, on Lincoln's car he had to space the wings out 30mm and also cut a massive amount from the front bumper.
On my own car with 215 tyres just fitting the saff roll bar to improve turn in etc I have had to trim the bumper and splitter.

 

Gav I understand that but lets be honest the car is a race car now, it runs a FG bumper and has been mess about with alot. I just thought the whole idea was to get more rubber on the ground, and with these new tyres being a road tyre rather than a track tyre i thought that would be even more important.

Ronnie own's and runs the car so it's his choice and not really any of my business, I was just interested thats all. I will be there at the first round, if for any reason you need any parts [i hope you dont] that weekend pm me or send me a msg on FB [goes to phone so get it straight away] I am only 12miles down the road and can bring them up.

I think that depends on the class. Though I believe Ronnie was in with some more powerful stuff and still did it ok, so it can't be all bad.

 

Believe the initial reason was mainly just to lower the wheel size and weight of the wheels (unsprung weight) rather than wheel width, sure I read that somewhere on here but im not searching 79 pages, lol
Reason for not going wider may have just been time constaints or budget as a huge amount has been changed from last season really in a short space of time, sure Ron will fill us in with the finer details.

 

Gav has worded it perfectly for me mate  as the year goes on i will have more time to modify parts etc but with only two weeks until my first race. Needed to get them on.

The powers vary mate.bit yes their are a lot of powerful cars in the classes. Will have to find out what power the other cars in my class were

I was going to try one of the rear wheels on the front, but i couldn't be bothered to go to Dans garage to get the other jack lol, i should have really as lets face it.. Ron is tooooo lazy to do any work on HIS car

well about 7 years ago eagle sorted a rr day at surrey rolling road with fast ford unfortunately my father inlaw died on the friday before and i was supposed to attened with my cossie but i cancelled anyway been up all night with my misses and about 1130 am i get a call asking if i new anyone who would go to the rr as numbers were low ! my misses over heard the convo and said go get the car out and go as her dad would want me to go as hre was a petrol head to , so as time was getting on i just jump in the cossie and set off not tinkin i was in dos gear a vest and jeans and boy ive had the opiss took since lol add the pic from ff to im was cunted lol
