My 3door cosworth project.* UPDATE* BREAKING

Weve used a few of vinces t38s and they can just about on the right engine but you will have to ring the shit out of it witch wont be reliable..
Imo you should run 2.2 bar peak 2 bar held for it to last and that will see around the 420 hp mark and around the same torque but will need valve pockets and a nice inlet cam with the ports and throats cleaned up,also as ronnie will need to rev it the cam timing will need to be done to suit as otherwise it wont want to rev ..
cheers danny

On one of our good spec engines, waples head, cam, the t38 does 440-450bhp at 26-27 psi and 100 percent reliable IMO, it will need a slightly ported head for this though Ron, they don't make brilliant torque though around 360lbft on our super flow

The only time weve ever seen them power figs at a held boost pressure is on a tt t38 but even then with much better torque than that..
What spec engine is that jimbo??why so lame on torque??

maybe j1mbos talking about the tt t38 as he doesnt state that its vinces t34 modified to t38, im sure he will fill us in shortly.
Strange about the torque, but saying that danny, your peaking at 2.2bar, if his doesnt peak then thats only 1.86bar

Course, I'll get plenty of graphs,
Just nice ported head, cam on inlet, 4x4 manifolds,
And yes, vinces cr turbos t38
They just are not a torquey turbo really,I'll get graphs for you later
On a proper spec engine with long rods, wrc manifold, st inlet, cps, ported head, pair of wild cams. It gave 460bhp and 430 lbft fr a hill climb car, that was high comp too.

I was talking about the turbo being unreliable not the engine and sorry but i dont believe you will get 450 hp at 26 psi!!!
As for torque weve seen well over 400 lbft on superflow and dd rr many times but as said thats with 2.2 bar peak and the right inlet cam..

I don't see why the CR T38 can't make that power on a good engine IMO.
I ran a Universal Turbos T38 on mine (can't see it being much different tbh) and at 28 psi held made 450 bhp on the nose with 390 ib/ft of torque. Ok, so the torque wasn't great but it still made some nice numbers!
It was dead reliable too, it got a beating at every opportunity for well over a year and a half and is still going just as strong on my mates car!

Them two turbos make totally different power mate but in all fairness its totally down to the cams and cam timing ime..
Cossie4i runs the same turbo as you on a std 2wd bottom end with a small port head and just a ab07 inlet cam and has now seen 480 hp and 470 lbft iirc all be it on a very cold day but because everything is specced well and mapped well its power is much larger than yours for example and even on a hot day will do 450 hp
Im not saying you cant get 450 hp out of the cr t38 im just saying you will need to ring the boost out of it...

UT T38, grey injectors, fully rebuilt and ported head, standard cams, totally standard bottom end, coil pack, proper loom and all the usual gubbins (500 cooler, exhaust etc).
The cylinder head was done by Cylinder Head Developments but I put it all together myself.

The UT T38 i had on mine made 441/450 with an outside temp of +24 degree in June this year - 8:1cr, 26mm ported head, std cams, Siemens 55's that were maxed
I would have thought Ron would have gone for a different unit, using mine on the road it was better than most thought but i'm not sure about a track, i would have gone for a new GTX3071R turbo and strong build with decent cam.

You are spot on with your spec there mate would be alot better!!
If i had my way i was going to do gt3071.82 sep w/g my inlet cam and a hart plenum etc..
Would of done 450/450 at 2.2bar peak and 2 bar held no probs

been doing bits and pieces on the car, first race is only two months away so best start cracking.
carbon doors fitted, will be wrapping them gloss black for now.
wheel well has been cut out
also making up brackets for the fuel cell to fix on to
doug has been cutting the loom out, looks like spaghetti junction
started a new job two weeks ago and their is a little corner full of paint etc, so thought it'd be rude not to paint my front bumper as last year it was just quickly toshed over satin black
been rubbing it down in between jobs
repaired a crack on the top,
