**BAD NEWS**



took the car to the essex rs owners meet tonight, everything was good, took stuart (twins) for a drive in it, driving along at 60mph and the engine died

towed it back and the woodruff key for the inlet pulley has failed

will have to strip the car down and assess the damage, am a little bit pee'd off. but i suppose it's just one of those things


one sort of good thing is i'm glad it happened when it did as a few minutes before i was going slightly faster lol

 

Will be over at the weekend to help with the strip down ron

Surely the pulley manufacturer is to blame - I do not understand how a woodruff key can fail. Would take a lot of force to shear the key.

i know how you feel my campully bolt (inlet) come lose on my 3dr yesterday when mapping my was a malicious attack not a a fault tho bent all 8 inlet valves i have.

was gutted for you last night mate, simular thing happend to me and was a kick in the bollocks. hope it hasnt done much damage, if you wish to tow it anywhere you knw where the van is.

 

Gutted for you mate.I would be putting all back together then turning it over by hand then i would be checking for compression test before you start the engine up.

 

Its done two valve's and touched a piston , Time for the PF community to help out in a crisis

it has done two valves at first glance, will do a wet test tommorow, has also nicked the edge of piston number one will get joe ( gs motosport ) to come and have a look and tell me he's opinnion on the piston and go from their i guess,


just feel a bit gutted at the moment am completly skint at the moment as i spent everything to get it on the road, and now this has happened was so looking forward to getting on track at brands hatch aswell , but at least it happened at low speeds rather than at high rev's round a track or something.
