Short block all but done apart from getting some blanks made up to block off the oil squirt jets in the EEC IV oil ways...
I spoke to James from MSD so with a bit of luck we can get Rons car there sometime soon for a tweek to the map.

my apologies for lack of updates.
its been a while!!! we managed to get the new engine together in time for the snetterton round of time attack, thanks to doug and john coles for their help and danny poole for arranging somewhere to get it all built up.
we arrived at snetterton with mixed hopes, we knew that my closest rival in the rx7 always performs well here as it was the 200 layout it would suit hes power well. the first session was just a feeler for the car as I still hadn't had a lot of seat time in the car, about 30 minutes prior to this and that was at cadwell park with the problems. all was going well I was getting more and more confident with the car. With about 5 minutes left I decided to have one last quick lap but noticed the car was behaving strangely under braking! it was really pulling to the left as I come out of the final left hander the n/s/f wheel locked up completely, I had to pull off of the track and the car had to be lifted up and recovered back to the pits. it was another wheel bearing!! it had seized completely, annoyingly I had replaced the o/s/f wheel bearing the day before using my spare wheel bearing!! a few phone calls with no luck started to get me worried, but doug the legend that he is called hes brother in law and got him to deliver one from kent
with that replaced we had to miss warm up un fortunately so it was straight out for qualifying, with new tyres on the car as the seized wheel bearing flat spotted the 888's it was another case of learning the car as I had a completely different tyre on, these took a couple of laps to warm up compared to the 888's which resulted in a little spin, I took 1st in quali
out for the final and I was getting more and more comfortable, with the car and the new tyres, on my 2nd flying lap I thought I had broken the gearbox!! as I exited a right hander I took a lot of kerb, changed to 3rd and their was nothing, a quick glance down and noticed I had snapped the gearstick!! I carried on and amazingly knocked 1 second off of my fastest time lol
and took the win by a comfortable margin
a few pics and video of the gearstick snapping

next round was oulton park, this is one of my favourite tracks and the first time we had been back their for a couple of years. I drove up the day before for the trackday which I was pinching some passenger laps to brush up on the track as funds wouldn't allow me to do the day myself.
got a few laps out with dave Jackson in hes new lotus exige which was awesome fun. it was a very hot day at 36 degrees so knew it would be tough as the same temps were forecast for the next day.
give the car a clean and added some new sponsors stickers
for the first session it was a case of see how the car performed as oulton is very bumpy. the car was horrible to drive!!! it felt like a completely different car compared to snetterton. it wasn't handling the bumps well at all, wouldn't turn in with out a lot of turn in oversteer was terrible under braking, that bad I put it in the gravel backwards
I played with the brake bias and got that sorted, I thought the suspension was too hard as it felt like it was to hard over the bumps, but realised the suspension was set to full soft that twinned with running without a rear anti roll bar as I am waiting for a bladed one to be made wasn't working with the bumps, during the brake between warm up and qualifying we stiffened the rear up and I knocked 5 seconds off of my times giving me 1st in quali by a couple of seconds
we didn't touch the car for the final as I was happy with how it was performing and we got 1st by the same gap
some pics of the day
love this pic of me and my dad

we packed up from oulton park and went straight across to donnington park for rsoc national day to do a session that was raffled off to win some passenger laps with me. annoyingly it decided to rain and I didn't have any wets so it was a very tip toey few laps which I was pretty gutted about. just a few pics from some people in the stands
fitted a new set of vented 305mm rear rotors and bells as the 2wd set I had were wearing out too quickly
also asked dave platt ( twins) to cut some extra slots in to the bonnet to help get the heat out. as always a top job
and also got my awesome tool tray that mk has made

Well done in the update and your season so far Ronnie.
You've found some good pace there.
The gear stick moment was priceless!
Re: your comment about spring poundage at Oulton (my local) what springs & camber did you end up running?
Cheers

After winning the championship. I had originally planned to move up to pro class with the car. But after a change of plans the car is going to be broken.

Shame to hear you're breaking it up Ronnie.
Reading your adventures has been entertaining!
What are moving on to? Are you staying in time attack?
All the best
Iain
