I've been busy since my last post.
Ive managed to shotblast an paint a focus block. I may use this if my CGI block doesn't turn up on time or may use it as a spare.
Ive assembled my pistons and rods
I've machined up a collar for my cam to allow me to mount a conventional piper adjustable pulley wheel instead of the variable valve timing wheel.
My plug top coils came today so I had to fit them to see what they look like.
My next task this week is to machine up some cam belt tensioner pulleys out of billet aluminium as the standard plastic ones are weak at high load and RPM, I've already got the bearings, mounts and billet sorted out, will post up pics soon.

Hi Austin,
This was one of the most impressive Westfields i've seen, with the old engine (and I've seen alot of Westfields), so I'm looking forward to seeing it again with the new engine.

I've managed to make up a new collar for the inlet cam to remove the VVT as the old one didn't work right with the cam seal.
Here are some pics of the metal pulley wheels Ive made up.
The standard plastic ones are a weak point on the zetec at high rpm etc.

Moving ahead slow but sure
I've currently got the entire car stripped and I'm welding up the chasis with extra bracing
I'm also going for an uprated Quaife Sequential box and a new rear diff to take hard launches, Gearbox is all rebuild and I'm half way through the diff. Just getting the ring gear and pinion shot peened and polished.
This week the new big bore Jenvey throttle body has arrived and I've bought a new set of longer H section rods too.
I'll be destroking this engine to increase the rod ratio and make it rev better.
I've also ordered my New crank and pistons this week too
Will post up some pics when I get round to taking them

Decided to totally uprate the top end which has ment 31mm exhaust and 35mm inlet valves from the USA.
Gone for a special alloy mix to withstand high temps which is better than inconol, work out at $47 each
Also ordered my double valve spring package from Belgium, at Ł400 its not cheap either
Head will need new guides and seats to suit too new valves.
Its not cheap but it will be the best you can get and will have big potential.
Been informed that these ST170 heads flow more than the Mitsubishi Evo 9's so if I put a silly turbo on there it will be a monster.

With the head flow and revs and with a huge turbo and boost 780bhp is achievable.
Jim at CNC head informs me it will flow more than an Evo 8 head
I've bit the bullet and gone for 35mm inlets and 31 Numonic exhaust valves from the states which is costing me a fortune
The head will require all new guides and seats as well
This will be without doubt the most radical Zetec engine in the country.
It will be a bullet proof engine, it will rev well and have loads of potential for big HP.
I'll have to make the car 4WD next

Patronus
4wd on a car like that would be insane ! but could you justify the extra weight ?
a chap i know on another forum showed us pics of his n/a 292bhp st170.. that's pretty good considering a normal 2.0ltr zetec won't see much passed 250bhp n/a !

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Hey there.
I've seen this car at TOTB the last few years and absolutely loved it! Got some nice pics of it. Defo one of my favourite cars that I've ever seen.
Thew new engine looks sick! all the best with it. out of curiosity, what do you do? You seem to have a fair amount of knowlege, expertees and equipment available to you.
Keep it up!
JAmes.
