Nice updates mate, you know I love this car. What's a cam and what's it's purpose? What I mean is what's the difference in your new and old cams? Could I get some for mine and nobody would ever notice?
Exhaust sits better if you ask me!
Cheers, Benni.

Love it radders!
Adam, the lower arms were quoted as being around Ł230, Not 100% sure though, could be cheaper!

Just need to sort the problem of warping discs now Rab!
Gonna take the fogs out and put two cold air feeds onto the discs I think, but yes, 15s was one of the best things I did tbh.

LOL! Yeah, some ducting to the brakes would be a good idea! And get yourself some cut slicks!

Copied and pasted this frm another forum, I was offered the chance to basically, build my own engine, with the watchful eye of Jon @ Shawspeed, so I snapped it up, and here we are now! Hoping for a good 170bhp!
www.ShawSpeed.com !
Right, as I started something new yesterday and I've come to the conclusion that I should document it in here.
It's a bit more engine work, the specification of the engine so far is :
Piper 4-2-1 manifold and decat pipe,
Mongoose cat back exhaust,
PiperX panel filter,
Shawspeed SS4 cams,
Heavy Duty conrod bolts,
Motorsport Developments Live map.
The car feels very very nippy with this engine. and pulls like a train to the limiter.
But, I want more!
I got on the PM to Jon @ Shawspeed, regarding Throttle bodies... I was given the chance to do it myself, with the supervision of Jon.. He'll make an engine builder out of me yet!
The plan is :
Jenvey 40mm Throttle bodies,
BPJ Inlet manifold,
Omex 600 ECU,
Heavy Duty Valve springs,
Pipercross Air box,
Tiny tiny bit of head work. (Just to clean everything up and give it a polish!)
DAY 1 - 27th May 2007
I turned up at Shawspeed at around 10.30.. 15 minutes late due to the bacon butty I needed!! Jon made me a brew, in a brilliant pink cup , and we set about writing a plan of action, which made sure we didn't miss anything, like putting o-rings in the TBs, etc!
Into the garage we go, and my first task is to drill the inlet manifold so we could get a vacuum for the brake master cylinder. This is why we didn't use Direct to head bodies, as their isn't a suitable boss for the vacuum supply! (Thanks Jon ) This was a bit of a daunting task, drilling into a brand new inlet manifold... But all went well. I then polished the inside of the manifold and smoothed out any bumps, so the air flows better through the manifold.. Studs were then fitted to the manifold with a little bit of loctite, and then that was that! Or so we thought! The TBs are a bit too short to go over the studs, no problem, though, as we've got some other bolts that'll fit!
Inlet manifold ready for drilling and tapping.
One polished and studded inlet manifold, ready for the throttle bodies.
This side will be attached to the head, ready for some serious airflow I hope!!
Inlet manifold ready for the vacuum connection, just need to tapp it!
Bare in mind this is the first time I've really done anything like this, so I'm really happy with how I'm getting on. The only bit I'm dreading tbh, is the wiring... You'll see how big the loom is later on in the post!
Next was onto adapting the linkage on the bodies, no pictures of this, but due to the spacing we had to trim it down a little.. No mishaps here either.. although my hand was killing afterwards!
Bodies at the top, inlet below it.. Lovely brew thanks to Suzi to the right!
Next up was the throttle linkage, anyone remember Mechano? It was like that! but metal, and trickier! A few runs outside to see Jofans linkage, and I'd cracked it eventually, with a little help from Jons eager eye spotting little mistakes..
It was all those bits, that bag of bolts, nuts, washers, ball joints etc! all together to look like the diagram, looked tricky, but wasn't so bad!
Next up was part of the loom. I had to attach the aux loom to the main loom, wasn't so tricky either, but there are so many wires! These will be chopped down obviously, but still they'res enough to for a few monkeys to have fun in!
All good fun, essentially means in the future I can run Traction Control/Full throttle gearshift etc etc..
Like I said, this is the bit I'm dreading the most, but hopefully it'll be just fine?
Next job? Stripping a head down! To think a year or two back I wouldn't know where to start when it came to servicing a car, I'm quite impressed I've just stripped a head! Basically we'll give the valves a polish, and the head a good clean up. We've done this basically because to make the most of the set up, and for safety, I'll be running heavy duty valve springs.
The head was then painted in a light blue.. why you ask? Because all the engines shawspeed have a play in, they paint this colour, so they can identify it as one of their own.. Good idea I think! So if you see that colour, you know who's done it! IIRC Pumaspeed have a blue engine....as did a few kit car manufac. a few years ago! One of which ended up at Jenvey!
One head, and valve spring compressor!
Valves and valve springs, and some little fidigity things that I can't remember the name of..(EDIT: Collets) but basically they're the key to holding the valves in place!
One box full of valves and valve springs!
And one valveless head, ready for a good clean!
That's this weeks update! until next time!!!! (Thursday!!!)

Excellent effort Dan!
This is turning into one of the most capable track day ZS' ever!
I don't envy you wiring in that loom. Looks like a total ball ache

Thanks Rab - Just need to use it now though
Got some Toyo Proxes R888s on order from Martin (Reyland) and have some 6 point harnesses on their way..
I need to pull my finger out and get a cage though.
