engine conversion
i have a escort mk6 (1997) and 2 of the valve seats have warped along with a piston. therefore i thought i might aswell change my engine. i was wondering if anyone knew if you could put a 2 litre zetec mondeo engine in a 1600 zetec escort. if so what would i need to change. ive heard the engine shoul fit almost straight in and run well with the ECU is this true?
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

i did a engine change on my mates 1600 zetec, but a 130ps 1.8 lump in and it went straight in, had to change the flywheel and clutch, but we was keeping the 1600 box! it ran of the 1600 ecu fine aswell, we did put a 130ps ecu in there in the end tho just to get max power out of the lump!
When using a 2.0 lump, u gota strip it down so its just the block and head, and use everything of a 1800 (1600 wud prob work aswell), i mean the manifolds, pumps, sump, etc!! i think anyway, and it sud run of ur 1600 ecu!!!

just get the ecu from a non PATS mondeo 2.0 and it'll run properly. a 1.6 ecu will be miles out.
you'll need an escort water pump, sump and oil pickup. use your existing inlet and exhaust manifolds, alternator etc. then use a 105spec 1800 flywheel and clutch, put the 2litre injectors in your 1.8 inlet, plug in the 2 litre ecu and fire it up.
