cost me 300 quid for a donor car, then i busted the lambda up and bought a K&N, that was all the cost involved, sold the wheels, stereo and shell off donor car too so didn't cost a lot all in. you could use the orion yeah but i found a rusted mk5 1.8 escort with full service history reasonable miles and snapped it up, took me about a week to do the conversion first time but I've done em in 3 days since.
basically, you have to mod the CVH top engine mount to line up with the zetec block bolt holes, just involves grinding abit off, cutting a bit off and re-welding it further round.
new engine bolts up to your box, altho you need a 105spec or efi cvh flywheel if you fit the 130spec lump.
the wiring is 2 relays and about 8-10 wires, just take the complete engine loom outta the donor car and you need to fuse the lambda, ecu and coil pack then re-build the part of the loom that would have gone thru the donor car's fuel pump and ignition relays, hook it up to ign live and perm live and it's all good.
coolant piping just needs either a hose reducer to get the cvh bottom rad hose to fit the bigger mouth on the zetec water pump, or use the zetec hose and put a t-peice in it for the extra hose. fuel feed and return, same as before, return on press. regulator end of fuel rail. Remove the EGR while you're at it, sleeve the zetec downpipe into your system and drive off

Cool, sounds good Id be starting with a EFI escort xr3i so I guess that would help with the ignition side being coil pack?
Are there any major problems u encountered other than the mount?????
I was thinking or using 130psi mk5 xr3i engine, donor car

If you use a 130spec lump you'll need to use your cvh efi flywheel, 105 ones are also compatible tho if you have any problems with yours. (you have to drill out the bolt holes a mm or so.)
I didn't have any real problems as such, just sorta made it up as I went along with the haynes manual for each car opened on wiring diagram pages. re-built the zetec loom in it's new home hooked up to my ignition, fuel pump and battery.
If you can weld then the mount is easy too, with both lumps out, cut the bottom hole off your cvh mount then bolt the top 2 up to the zetec block, bolt the one you cut off up to the bottom left hole in the block and use a bit of plate and plenty of weld to make it all one peice, grind back, paint and you've got a new mount.

they're on mate, the light just never catches the mudflap type bits cos the car's black. you can never see em very well in pics cos they blend into the shape of the car so well. Loads better than the S2 kit IMO which looks like a bit of an afterthought. "just stick em onto the arch lips, it'll be alright."

old rear setup
got me a load of new fancy bits!
started fitting em...
u can see how with the @mad for it@ kit you have to grind the corners off the bolts for the mounting brackets. but not all the way down, so it's still solid, and a socket still goes on.
20 mins later. lol. oine side done.
couldn't get one in red! ah well.
other side done and wheels back on.
relegated to the trash, drums suck!

no real updates other than replacing the alternator wiring today as 17 yrs of heat from downpipe have internally cooked it and made it so brittle i snapped it off. lol
when wiring the zetec loom, you use it complete from the donor car, all you need to cut is the wires for lambda, ecu and coilpack feed, then you need to fuse them as per the haynes manual for the donor car, as your fusebox obviously won't have these. Then it's a matter of hooking up the yellow fuel pump relay and ignition relay from donor car to permanent live and ignition live in it's new home. hook up your rev counter, use your old oil press switch wire and temp guage needs earthing, then thats about it.

The brakes arent a kit, you can get the brackets from mad for it or oddkidds. then its just a full 4x4 cos rear setup, with mk5 rs2k h/brake cable rear section. Then the fronts are 4x4 calipers and pads with 2wd disks. the hoses are 2 sets of mk4 front braided hoses.
I bought uprated pads and disks brand new, but you could probly find the whole setup second hand from someone who is upgrading their cossy?
