Transmission
A Getrag six-speed F-28 is the gearbox of choice and is capable of coping with up to 280lbf.ft of torque making it more than qualified to handle the 206lbf.ft output from the C20LET engine.
A similar semi-permanent 4wd system to that of the GSi 4x4 was also fitted to the Turbo. It uses a transfer box to send the drive from the engine to the back wheels via a viscous coupling arrangement. The viscous coupling allows the drive between the front and rear wheels to vary according to the road conditions and how the car is being driven. Under normal driving conditions approximately a quarter of the drive will be sent to the rear end, however, this can vary up to 100% front or very nearly 100% back.
The system is also semi-permanent in that it will switch itself off when braking above 16mph. The theory being that this will leave the car in Fwd and hence make the handling more predictable when cornering. The transfer box has its own separate 4x4 ECU which monitors the system closely and dictates whether or not the 4wd should be engaged or disengaged. To find out more about the 4x4 ECU click here. To learn more about the 4x4 system in general click here to view Richies 4x4 pages.
The rear differential is the same as used in a 4-litre Holden Commodore and, as with the gearbox, is easily capable of handling the power output from the engine.

What is crude about it?

Narrow minded? I just pointed out the Cav/Cally Turbo's weak point, you even admit it yourself in an earlier post. And just for the record I don't even own a Ford, I actually have a Vauxhall. I am actually looking to buy a Cosworth.
I don't wanna argue about this, forget I mentioned it. Sorry.

Sounds like optimistic power for the boost
is that 16 held or overboost?
Thought the average tends to be 16psi for 280bhp (which it never makes, bit like stg3 saff is supposed to be 330 but more like 310) which is more like 265-275. Dont qoute me though
Got the same engine in a MK2 GTE, should be intresting finding ditch's when its done
