Thanks! I don't think anyone in the Focus community in the US is a fan of the big bumpers we got stuck with. Its because of our crash standards. Wish I could afford to get RS Collection bumpers shipped over.

That is very impressive mileage!
You have reliability problems or bits falling apart with those miles?

I don't mind those big bumpers really but I guess it's because we don't have them here.

Welcome along mate.

Just for looks. A lot of people here put Euro plates on their cars.

Biggest problem I've had was the alternator going out. Other than that just the common wear and common zetec problems like the thermostat housing leaking and PCV hose collapsing. Still runs great but gets rough idle from time to time.

Cool, car and good going with the mileage, 99% of focuses would be scrapped here with less than half of that. Have you seen this project?

There are quite a few over here with 200,000+ miles. Ive see a couple with 400,000 miles.

Ive been following his build on Focus Fanatics. There are a few RS builds going on in the US right now. There used to be a pretty good supply of RS parts in the US. Ford Racing was even selling the panels at one point. The parts have dried up unfortunately and are now rare to find.

Nice car dude! Don't forget in america there is no such thing as a corner so cars have such an easier life. Plus with the state of the UK roads cars over here fall to bits long before the engine gets tired

I wish we had something with the RS badge here. So far it looks like it will happen with the MK3.
I know the zetec 2.0 and Duratec ST (SVT in the US) share some common problem. Im sure the Duratec RS shares them to since all 3 are the same motor to start with.

Thanks man!! We have some pretty bad roads here to. I do a lot of highway driving though so that helps. The mountain roads probably put the most wear on it. Put in SVT (ST170) suspension about 100,000mi ago. Still rides good though. Did the front balljoints and put poly bushes in about 20,000mi ago. Still need to do the rear bushes. Its starting to get a little sloppy.

Nice looking car! Is there a big ford scene out there then with the focus' (I do remeber reading one time it was the honda civic's only real rival at one point)?

Thanks dude! Pretty big Focus community in The US. The Fiestas are making a comeback as well now that we have them back in The States. We get 20-30 cars at our monthly local meets. I reckon I could start a picture thread with US Focuses.

This is false.

Winds me up when people say this.

Some of the best roads in the world can be found in America, granted places like Florida are fairly flat and straight but even there i've found the odd decent road for a play in the hire car.

Some of the mountain roads are bliss.

Also, does look a decent car and done the mileage well.

I'd definitely have an Escort RST shipped over if i move over there.

Imagine their faces when a little 1.6 8v european escort turns up at the cruise ins and meets.

Plenty of twisty mountain and canyon roads around here.

You can try! haha. Importing cars into the US isn't even worth the hassle. My friend even had a hard time getting his Fiesta MK7 back from the UK after being stationed there even though it had a US VIN and Reg. Had the bill of sale with him to. Had it at Puma Speed while he was out there. Only Fiesta in the US with a Euro rear conversion and Milltek race exhaust.

Im pretty sure the rules apply differently to classic cars.

Also i doubt i'd be living in Cali, i know the rules are really strict there with new cars having to meet so many regulations.

It still has to meet a EPA, emissions, and safety regulation.

Thanks man! Hit up Focus Fanatics and you could probably find someone over here to trade you rear bumpers straight up. A lot of people over here looking for Euro parts.
