I don't see how technology has made things worse, if we didn't advance in technology, we'd still be writing on slate.

I think the line that says it all is
Never stabbed each other ,just collected rubbers.
I blame America for kids demise.
1.Fast food =makes kids fat
2.Computer games=makes kids lazy
3.Gang culture=makes kids stab each other over postcodes.
And gun crime is rising every year.
And my personal hate, why the f**k have we swapped the word series for season regarding tv shows?...

If you were born in 92 then trust me, you were born in the demise of the world. It began in the 90's!

I honestly believe my generation or age group are the last of the 'good uns' - born in 1980 - I'm 32.
None of my friends parents went into school and chinned a teacher or moaned when they're unruly kids got excluded.
I raced a bus to my GF's when I was 15 on my bmx.
I had to knock her door and ask her out in the first place.
I would sit in the porch on the phone and block the phone line for hours on end and then get bollocked for
A. The bill every quarter
B. The fact no one could get hold of anyone else while I was doing it.
We had a BBC Micro and an Acorn Electron and an Atari 2600.
We had a black and white tv with a spin dial to get the channels - they weren't even in order. We would take it with us on holiday - in our touring caravan where we'd spend 3-4 weeks touring Devon and Cornwall and when we came home no one had burgled the house.
We had one car and sometimes didn't even have one, so when we needed to go somewhere we walked or got the bus and it was a family outing.
If something was broke - rain, shine, wind, rain, day or night - I went out and fixed it so I could use it again!
My youngest brother is 22 this year and the difference is scary..........

I completely agree as per my above post... my youngest brother is a great lad and will be fine but he spent most of his teens playing fifa or somet equally as rubbish and as such has soo much growing up and learning to do that people my age had already done because we went out there and did stuff.

IT will never replace person to person communication. Only one third of the message is conveyed in a conversation through the words itself.
The big area it seems to have affected those growing up is dealing with conflict/arguement and learning how to bargain with and resolve such situations verbally.
Most young people just can't do it. I don't think its a case of they don't know what to say, they do - its told to them, they see it on TV etc. But they lack the confidence and assertiveness to put it into practice effectively.
Maybe its lack of practice due to IT communication or maybe its due to our ubber "pc" over risk averse society mommy coddling them from such situations.
Either way the kids seem to be either mostly cowards or in a few cases like chavs, go the other way and default to physical violence.
A friend of mine in the police moans about it all the time. People are afraid to talk to each other, or try to resolve an arguement so they ring the police, or complain to the council etc and do anything to avoid even mild confrontation.

oh yeah, what we used to get at the charity with young people a lot with arguements or complaints and dealing with situations was they would say something like "erm what do i say?" we'd tell them simply, and thier reply would be like "i cant say that, what if they say this or that"
Telling them to just deal with it and get on with it rarely went down well.

I think communication is one of the biggest problems of all that technology has harmed. It's done gone in some ways, IE mobile phones to the extent of they are handy aren't they! Just in my business alone to be able to take calls on site and make calls on site makes life so much easier but then the problems phones have caused in the workplace over shadows that!

i wish i could go back right now, loved my childhood, didnt have fuck all growing up like but didnt need it either, remember few years back telling my old apprentice that the first 3 houses i lived in didnt have radiators and he looked at me like i had two heads lol! all we needed back then was daylight and an imagination lol

Who remembers the only kids tv was the hour and half after school before mum got home and wanted to watch neighbours lol
how come when we we're kids we might of said we had nothing to do, but within 5 minutes would be climbing a tree and ripping the knees out our trousers, but now a days its like they have lost all use of an imagination.

I was born in 86 and remember a lot of that. Got to agree with lee though i often think times were better when i was younger. Not to the point the 90's were shit though as i liked them but i saw a lot change.
Kids these days don't play football they play fifa. They don't realise it but they are wasting the time when they should be out and about being care free.

When all you're doing is shouting at Fifa or telling a team member on call of duty to fuck you have no real life skills.

fooking epic vid
born in 1971 and I remember all of it
I agree with Shings & Warren
Our generation are the last ones that had any common sense drilled into us.
all the younger generations appear to have had the common sense taken away. If it isn't in a text book or there isn't a set of instructions, they just can't figure it out or know what to do.
and I agree about technology making people retards when it comes to having social skills.
you look around at any gathering of groups of young people, they sit in silence while they all have their smart phones glued to their hands.
They sit there mute while fiddling with their phones; WTF are they doing, checking out their mates walls on facebook or following their friends 'tweets'
'Im in the pub' lol on a FB wall
'so am I, im sat next to you' on their mates FB wall
If we wanted to talk to someone you had to physically do it.
if you wanted porn, you had to man up and buy a copy of Fiesta/Parade/Men Only off the top shelf of the newsagent
Kids these days don't know they're born (oh god I've just sounded like my dad)

oh and our generation wasn't wrapped in cotton wool, we played out ALL FUCKING DAY, football, cricket on the school fields, out on the BMX etc
we didn't sit like a recluse playing video games all day getting fat and being lazy.
The mamby pamby 'risk averse' culture we now have has A LOT to answer for!

That's quality!!
'Michael Fish, you lying twat!!' had me in stitches!!
I'd give anything to go back to the '80s. IMO everything was better back then, the TV programs, music, cars, computer games, toys, the lot!
I'm proud to have been born and grown up in the '80s. Best ever era IMO.

One of the best videos put up in a long time, the 80's will never die.
The reason we probably had Such an active childhood was because there was only 5 channels on the telly lol.
BBC 1
BBC2
Granada
Channel 4
And S4C
Lol

i remember all of that! i was born in '73 life was great then. i remember desperately wanting a bmx because all my mates had 'em. mum and dad said no and bought me a racing bike "you'll grow into it". like all the clothes they bought for me, a size too big but always got damaged or worn out by the time they fitted.
why cant life be simple?

brillian, being born in 74 i can relate to that totally, i miss the old days life was easier not just because i was young and living at home
as said above technology is ruining kids these days, my 13 yr old daughter is glued to her blackberry and ipod (she does'nt live with me and i did'nt buy her either of them) it can annoy the shit out of me with her constant bbm'ing!!

I have to agree with everything said tbh
I was born in 1980 and remember as a small boy being able to play out side on a Friday night till when ever I wanted with my friends without any bother
Tree climbing was the nuts back then and as Ajc said about making go karts from old prams was mega fun
If you wanted to see if a friend was coming out to play you had to go and knock for them
Even the local youth club was nothing but fun and games
Us kids back then could make fun out of anything
Kids of today are and have missed out big time IMO
The 80's and very early 90's was deco the best years
Good vid that Paul nice one

Just watched it again. And then told the other half about it. She remembers some of it, she was born in 87. But just reminiscing from my youth and it made me smile.
I'm going to build a aerial runway this weekend. Only problem is I was fearless as a 12 year old.
