Great video! He seems to make it look a lot harder to drive than the likes of andy rouse, steve soper etc. Pity the like of gm kept complaining to get these banned as their astras, cavaliers couldn't touch them, would have been great to have seen them race for a few more years past 1990 as in Australia.

I'm too young to remember the racing but I've read up on it loads, by all accounts nothing could keep up with them. M3's occasionally did alright but the sierras just dominated. Very cool considering you've all these manufacturers putting out the best racing engines ,suspension and brake set ups etc they can produce and just constantly being blitzed.

You cant just bolt on a turbo, you have to homologate one first, and Ford were the only one that had done so at that stage, BMW couldnt just turn up for the 2nd race of the season with a turbo car, takes a long time to homologate a change including making and selling 500 of the cars etc!

I'm sure on tighter circuits the new btcc cars are faster but on faster tracks the 500's murder them!
Strange about the homologation part as John cleland turned up for 1 event in 1989 with a rear wheel drive cavalier. So there must have been a way of bending the rules some how!
