New purchase - D reg S1 Turbo
I wasnt realy looking for another car but i spotted this on Monday on here and it ticked all the boxes for me. 30mins later a deal was done and the car was heading for Aberdeen.
I have owned loads of S1 Turbo's over the years but always wanted a D plate and always wanted one i didnt need to do any bloody wedling too haha.
The car arived today, i bought the car without viewing it and based on many pictures and the guy rep but its always a worry but i am delighted.
It arived and it wouldn’t start, turns out the fuel pump had gave up and was a new pump 20 miles ago, the joys of the car doing less than 20 miles since its resto, Dingbro actually had a genuine Bosch in stock, so a wee while later the car was running sweet as so it was no big deal.
I can’t fault it engine wise as everything brand new and the underside of the car is probably better than when it left ford, all the suspension components etc have pdi stickers on them after being fitted as new items at resto time, every single nuts and bolt is new, its the first RS i have drove in years that actually feels tight to drive and like a new car, or as new as they felt back in 1986.
Body wise again is like new after being built from the shell up, the only thing i am not happy is that one arch has some silicon/orange peel so it will be coming off to get done again, other than that, it actually felt like a brand new car being delivered. The seller told me about this so again i am not bothered.
Couple of bits I want machine polished and after taking it for a drive, I am genuinely scared to drive it and get it dirty but I will drive it as I have never been one to have a garage.
Over the winter i plan to make it better (if possible) and the show it next year.
I’m like a kid at xmas and although its standard 130BHP is painfully slow in these days terms, you just want to drive it at snail pace and take in the experience.
Some pics (iphone)
Next job is to get the garage empty and clean to free up some room so it can keep the 2002 company.
