Firstly what a brilliant day out that was ! I know there are a lot of fans of the oldschool on here and it really was a day packed out with some amazing machinery.

I'll let the pics do the talking

I have some videos I will upload to Youtube shortly

Fantastic day out, I really hope they get a series together for next year

Great day out, got lots of inspiration for mine now.
I've got an old "Retro Cars" mag with a very inciteful write-up on both the beetle and the No.55 Daf V8 car. Includes the original drivers thoughts, how the cars passed hands, how the rear was cut off the Daf and was originally sacriledge but then thought as quite a decent mod and finally how they've both not long just been fully resto'ed!
Best stop there or i may aswell just quote the article!!!Lol

If you fancy a read, PM us your addy an i'll pop it over to you.

Thanks Lee, I do speak to Ricky and I've also been in contact with Paul Mcmillan and SHP who built the car for him. Maybe not as well known as some of the Fords but still a cool car and I'm very happy with it ( well will be once its back together ! )

Did you know Ricky has sold the Escort Now that was a nice car with some interesting history.

Great day out, got lots of inspiration for mine now.
I helped build and develop the Esprit working with Simon back in the early 90's onwards, we took it from a poor car that was last on the grid to pole position and winning races with a lot of blood, sweat, tears and the odd big bill too.

It started out with us as a bare chassis and body, and went through various stages of tune starting with a 3.5 litre Rover V8 and FT200 gearbox, with that we learned the chassis was properly bendy, whoever built the chassis missed out some important load paths. Chassis properly stiffened it could then take more power, so it received a TVR Tuscan Series Rover V8, then Simon and I spent a year working with Ian Richardson and together we built the first prototype Wildcat Rover V8 5.0 engine, using Ians new Wildcat cylinder heads. The car then recieved a DG300 box to handle the extra torque. The 5.0 engine ran a few seasons then was ready for a change so Simon built a 6.0 Wilcat Rover V8 and ran with that for a while. It was then time for another change so a new engine was aquired in parts over time, the engine is now a Chevy LS6 5.5 litre in a spec used in the Daytona Prototypes, pushing about 580BHP out.

I was there at the weekend giving Simon a hand, i dont get to spend much time with the car now as i ended up working with Historic F1 and CanAm cars as a job at the other end of the country, but i wouldnt have missed getting back to my racing roots and seeing the car run on track with some of the great cars that inspired us both. To see such a cracking race and to come away with two wins was very much the icing on the cake of a great weekend.

Fantastic, it really is a impressive car and as you say it performed brilliantly.

Jonny...Lee has his Rickys/309's mixed up...He thinks it was "Ricky" Morris's (Dannys brother) old 309 (The fast Car one) Not our "Ricky the Hutch"..

2 x 309's both once owned by "Rickys"
