i weigh less than 11 stone lol, but my bike isnt single pivot and only has a 2.5" stroke shock, so a 350 is a very light spring.

i reckon you should try a 400 mate initially things feel way too soft, but ride it for a bit, as long as you aint a clumsy rider, you should feel the benfit!
Oooooo nice link thanks fella i will take a look now. i have considered going straight for a 45o spring as I've always got the option of windin a wee bit more pre load on.

the 400 mAy be a tad to soft for me though im used to riding hardtails so like the back end to feel stiff ish lol

whys that? you have no idea whats on that bike from that single pic

the frame only retails at £2,000. add to that over £1,000 worth of forks on it and you are most of the way there already.
A shimano Saint groupset, chain guide, £100 worth of tyres and tubes,
thats before the you add wheels etc.

http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/speci...tem161783.html

i can almost guarantee that TEVs bike cost that too, as the 224 frame is well over 2k..
so i guess his was too. nice bike!

S2chris.. Nice jump bikes!

Because you can get soooo much better! And the fact the forks can be bought dirt cheap even brand new. And it all seems to be running old spec stuff (grey mavics, the forks, etc.) And the fact the top of the range 2011 models aren't even that lol.

I know tev's is worth a lot, a good mate was one of the first people to crack a 224 evo lol.

i totally agree that's rather a sweeping statement, you can't say a bikes not worth x amount of £'s from looking at 1 pic, especially as its a head on action shot

literally just ridden it up the road to make sure the gears are set up ok!

the design is way more complicated than it looks

the main pivot for the rear end is at the top! there is a crazy linkage round the BB.

and it uses a 3.5" stroke shock, so nice and big! 'only' just over 7" travel still though.

they are never as simple as they look then again are the piviots
Sealed Cartridge?

if so you have nothing to worry about ha

7inch is more than enough imo especially in the uk, you always have your leggs when you go through all the travel

Miss my old Orange 222, but at the time I couldn't drive! Probably caused I'd spend £3,500 on a bike lol!

BMX is my current scene though!! Even that's expensive though. £1500 and still got no brakes or gears!

in bmxing the breaks can be more dangerous if they lock on ect i always used to ride a back break till i started bigger tricks eg tail whips

Means you can't pussy out of things!!

Seriously improved my riding no end without brakes. Much smoother and makes you thinking more about rolling speeds etc.

Budget rims

ha you are right they are 521s cd ceramic rims!!! in my opinion the best rim mavic have made so much so i bought 3 new old stock rims which i have laced on to hope hubs!!!!

i have riden with bang up to date stuff and these rims are in my opinion the best!!!! mavic must think they are still good enough to sell case they are still selling them re-branded as 719!!!!

d32s are over weight n over rated!!!

and tubeless is pointless for me im not worried about weight

cheers jay

Mavic ex719's are actually really good rims orion turbo. Just a lighter and slightly weaker (v brake) version of the ex729, which i had on my downhill hardtail.

It is true... That 'rip off' demo 8 up there has saint everything, after a bit of bedding in, they are brutal!
So much so, he's bought some 'resin' pads as apparently they offer slightly less stopping power lol

Did you notice that there ceramic rims? Bit pointles on disc brakes but they use to retail at over £90 per rim so hardely a cheap rim,

Love the orange though, really nice bikes and ride really well, nearly bought one when before I got

Some realy nice bikes on here.
Love that orange one..

Mine, although not as up to date as some here.
i bought this in the states in 1989, been all over the states with it,
came down pikes peak lol. ( new goal, to driver back up ion something powerfull)

Then used it in competition in Ireland for a number of years

Just dug it out after nearly 15 years, ( off the fags a month or so now)
said id start getting fit again.

So i started a wee refurb on her:
*New Tyres, ( old one were cracked to bit. and narrow by today standards)
*Removed all the stickers, faded and cracked
*New chain
*New Front derail er
* need to get my rear sprocket looked at.

But looking better for the few hours work already.
Im looking into upgrading my brakes to disks, but may have to weld bracket for the rear setup.
Need to look at a newer version of the GT to see what i need

stickers iv ordered. although, not the exact same as before, but close
