My New Orion
Well, i've been away for while after taking my old silver Orion ghia w/turbo conversion off the road cos it needed some work. Over the winter with all the snow, it's ended up full of puddles and soaked through!
I was gutted! Just seemed overwhelming the amount of work that may be needed to get her going again and looking great.
As luck would have it, another forum member had this Orion up for sale just along the road from me. Seemed to good an opportunity to miss, so I snapper her up, with the plan now to transfer everything off my silver turbo into this shell!
Here's some info and photos!
1986/D reg Ford Orion 1.4L, 4 speed. (CVH engine)
Car has covered 50,700 miles with virtually every mot from new to confirm this mileage - also has nearly every old tax disc.
2 owners from new, 2nd owner had car from 1988 to present.
Mot till 28th June 2011 and tax till end of July 2011
The old style V5 is present for the car
Mechanicals
You would have never know its nearly 25 years old. Starts and runs as if was new, with a manual choke for cold starts. It runs so well and quietly, it puts most modern cars to shame. It has a 4 speed gearbox which again works perfectly and clutch, brakes, suspension etc are as they left the factory and in mint condition. Seems to be really good on fuel as well! Will be getting lowered, and cossie brakes fitted asap!
Interior
It appears the seats have been changed for those from a higher spec'd Orion as they do not match the door cards. Everything works as it should - still has original working LW/MW radio cassette! I'll be putting my ghia interior and Recaro's in though!
Bodywork
Outstanding condition for age as per pics. It has obviously been kept garaged throughout its life and been looked after meticulously. It is obviously not 100% concours but for being 25 years old its in stunning condition for its age. Tiny bit of rust beside passenger indicator and at bottom of drivers arch. Underneath is mint & has never seen a welder - has been ziebarted on the usual areas such as chassis legs, inner sills etc which has obviously preserved it very well. All shut lines are perfect and car is as straight as they come. Its shiny red as opposed to the usual faded red examples also! 4 x original Ford wheeltrims are also present. All windows and lights are etched with the original registration number. Rear number plate and tax disc holder are original dealership items - front has been replaced at some point.

Cheers Steve, lol.
The old tyres were buggered so had to get them off asap, these were off my old silver ghia/turbo. They will probably stay on, and I'll have it looking like the silver one did
I still have the original ghia alloys too, but the tyres aint so great on them, or I'd have maybe put them on for a bit
