It's not all about massive power though. I think a tuned LET is too much in most cases. Stripped out it will weigh fuck all. Even with 120-130bhp, with weight right down and some well thought out chassis mods, you'd have a proper fun little car that can put its power down. Having tonnes of power is fine, but no fun if it's all wasted in wheel spin

My nova cost £1900 to complete ncluding buying the car. Fitting an C20XE has got to be the cheapest way of improving power with a nova. If your doing it yourself then £3-400 should see an engine change done easily.
Dont forget about the suspension though, I had a Courtney Vauxhall Billy B9 XE kit fitted and you couldnt tell the extra weight of the engine and box.

yep, got a bilstein B10 kit coming soon.
one question though.
all the kits ive seen lower it by 60mm at the front? that seems a lot for a bilstein handling kit... or is it that the nova responds well to being lowered a lot at the front and a bit at the back?

my bilstein kit on my belmont was 60 pal, 40 to 60mm is fine for a nova, majority of cars once you go past 60mm start to handle shit, 106/306's for example

ignore the 'put a LET lump in it' comments, im a big fan of screaming mental 1400 novas! i watch a lot of the BTRDA rally series, and this guy runs 1st on the road usually in the 1400 category, and the thing sounds mental and dont half shift!

and then for the ultimate rally nova, look no further than dave metcalfe, this guy was a legend! he used his little nova to put most of the big cars to shame!

so yeh, anything that sounds like them, goes like them, and looks like them gets my vote

problem is with alot of, not saying all is there is some good ones out there, but most XE/LET nova's just have the engine chucked in without much consideration for anything else, and they just don't feel nice, my mate had a fairly well specced XE and i wouldnt go it in, i'd of felt safer in a shopping trolley with a YB in it in all fairness (you at least know its going to break down within a mile or so)
They make a good little car with a screaming 1400 or something light and a well set up chassis though!
