I started off with the intention of purchasing a late BMW M5 (E60 V10), and had a couple of test drives, they had been my dream car for a long time, but once I'd driven them they proved a bit of a anti climax, you really have to keep them above 5k rpm to be in the power band and after a while they felt a bit thrashy and the SMG box left a bit to be desired.
After someone suggest I try a C63 AMG before I took the plunge, I took a test ride in a 2010 car and WOW, what a great car. So I changed my preference and found this late 2012 car with low miles. Loving it so far, the low down power is fantastic with a better performance than the M5 and it just does it all so effortlessly.
If your looking at E60 M5's, try one of these first.

Very nice mate, I too have just picked up a white 2010 C63 (pre-facelift but with PPP), what a machine, sooo much nicer to drive than my old SL55. In touch with GAD at the moment about tuning options (has the 30hp engine output increase/SLS internals so not sure what they can do....)
