im looking for a lens for my d3000 im not sure which is best, basically as a e.g when at a car show wanting to take a pic of a car i want to stand close enough to get the whole car in but not too far away that no one sees your trying to take a pic and keeps walking in to it.

Id be tempted to stay away from the fisheye as if your not careful you'll end up with a lot of distrotion and the car wont even look like what its meant to. For what your asking Id be looking at sigma 10-20, cheap as chips and very versatile, always have it in my bag and is great for landscapes also. As an example
this is @ 11.5mm
http://www.flickr.com/photos/41963775@N07/4026073049/and I was stood in the bay next to the car

this is @ 10mm

on this I was about 10foot from car so you can see how much foreground is creeping in the more you move back.

this is again 10mm but you can see how by been close to get the car full frame the distortion starts to creep in

the following isnt my pic (http://www.flickr.com/photos/gfreeman23/2170815409/) but its taken at 5mm and shows the crazy distortion a fish eye gives, admitidly its quite a cool effect but your soon going to get bored of it.

just my 2p

thanks
Steve

Body is d200, as far as I remember I didn't use flash, didn't want to draw too much attention to myself! Was handheld too which is good thing about that lens, slow shutter times don't show up too much shake.
