Silverstone Eve Session
What a great day out again.
Our day started at 6.15 with a run over to Derby to NMS for a re-map and general check over of mine since there's been a few changes. All was ok with the map after a few hours of Karl checking things over. I have been worried the last week over very low oil pressure and have tried a few different oils with varying results but it was nearly at zero pressure on the gauge when Karl brought it back after the final run but he thought to double check it he would fit a mechanical gauge and see what the reult was as under load the pressure reading on the gauge is around 4bar, the problem was just at idle. Anyway Karl fitted a mechanical gauge and on start up the needle shot straight to 4bar, so I was made up and was then looking forward to having a good session at Silverstone.
About an 1hr an half later and a fuel and ice cream stop at a local station to Silverstone we entered the home of F1 in the UK.
What an impressive place it is, its a few years since Ive been and they have spent a shitload of money......and still spending by the looks of it.
Just after entering the gates tho there was a very sobering site, an 09 M3 that now looks a lot shorter than it did since it left the BMW factory. At our briefing later we were told that it had happened that afternoon and the driver pushed his luck too far, I saw the skid marks and the concrete dust where they had soaked up the oil, a very sobering site I dont mind admitting. We thought we'd take a snap of it on our way out but it had gone when we went home.
Anyway after a couple of siting laps we were let loose. Its a fantastic circuit and will defo go back to it and after a while I started to push a bit harder and a bit harder..... (notice the grin in the 1st 4 pics)
Unfortunately the session was stopped twice by the same muppet at the same bloody corner in a Lotus Exige, fair play to the staff there tho as the track was soon opened and we were off again
Ive a few more pics of mine but to be honest there all pretty much the same as above.
Highlight of the day for me was going out in Pigs new motor, that thing can shift and we were pretty much at right angles on every single bend and I was pissing myself laughing although I'm now worried that the day may have cost me a lot of money in the long run.......
After the session ended we left and had a meal and drink at a local pub and then headed home at around ten. We should have been home around the 1-1.30 mark but the throttle cable snapped just north of Brum so we had to wait for a low loader to recover us back to Manchester and I walked/crawled thru the front door just after 3
Was a great day tho and would'nt have missed it for anything
