Default BBS wheel addiction!

I have now in my collection 2.5 sets of BBS wheels. 1 x set of 18" BBS LM (for the street) and 1 x set of 17" BBS RS for track. I also have two BBS RS's left to use for drag wheels. The track wheels will be done factory type with polished lips and half height caps and the drag wheels will be whored out. Not sure what final colours will be but expect something different.

Anyways, here are pics of my BBS LM's (real deal, not copies) in which they have been powder coated chrome base and finsihed with silver flake. The lips were polished and then the centre has been remounted behind the lip to add another 0.5" dish.

If anyone is thinking of doing the whole exercise.. its pretty darm expensive and takes lot and lots of measuring and re-measuring.

Tried on the set today:
refinshed with powdercoat chrome and silver flake centres. lips polished and then remounted behind lip:

the RS198s are 17s ... they were the early 17" that BBS made and use a 13" centre from the 16" wheel. You can see an extra step in the lip to compensate for the extra inch.

BBS later made 'proper' 17s with larger centres, which my RS212 are

Ill keep the RS's for now

the rear hubs are granada, they bolt straight on.

i was told the hubs on the front from a granada should fit, but as it turned out the hubs from a 1990 2.0l did not fit. I was told later that the granada 4x4 hub should fit, but got fed up and had my guy make some custom machined alloy hubs.

VIC. I have just got a pair of 4x4 granada front hubs to maybe go on my escos. i already have the 5 stud granada rears i may go the 5 stud wheel route myself but then again i may not. It may all be a bit too much work, easier to get the 4 stud wheels direct from the UK.

RS Nick: ive found out (unfortunately!) that there's another world of wheels and there's quite a fair share of BBS wheel horders lol.

RSRoy: just saw your resto thread. looking the goods there . its reassuring knowing that your rims wont depreciate or lose its appeal over time

yeah going 5 stud, is quite an effort to get it right (for my fussy standards). you also need new brake bells or use a 5 stud 1 piece disc. Having said that you can get the majority of wheels on the market with the suitable pcd and offset...the list is endless. Personally I only like a few of the 4 stud choices in 4x108.

i think the oz rally with centrelocks would suit your car just fine! Linc can get you some centrelock hubs

i have the ali ones, and yeah i may just have to get them anodised as keeping them polished (well 2 sets at least) will be a pain. does the hard anodising turn the metal grey?

If you look closely at Nick's picture you see my 4 rims in front of all those others. Those others are all owned by my mate who is doing the refurb on mine wheels aswell

Fortunatly I've got the only geniune 16" 4x108 set of him

thanks again for the comments guys

the track wheels will def be a silver/chrome powder coat, so dont worry bout ruining a classic..

dont worry about the under tyre stretched look, i will definately have the correct sized tyre for the wheel

i will be doing something a little different with the drag wheels, which will be on only on the rare occasion the car goes to the quarter mile strip
