Kershaw, thats the one
Thing is, most "race" cars are built for a purpous - and looking good is not high on the list of priorities is it. Function over form with these creations, and every asthetic change is a comprimise on the performance side of things...
What your looking at is a base model 3dr Sierra. Nowt to do with Cosworth, never wore an XR badge, but runs the 4WD transmission from an XR4x4, with the 2.9 (albeit bored out now) 12v V6 with a pair of turbo's.... Also, what you are looking at is a car built many years ago, and by todays standards, 600bhp is no mean feat in the worlds of Fords, so ten years ago it was un-imaginable! A real feat of ingenuity if you will
THe first Sierra over 200mph was a track prepped XR4Ti running a SOHC 2.3 litre straight 4 cyl Lima engine and RWD transmission. This was nearly 20yrs ago - how may Sierra's (other than drag cars using Sierra chassis) have achieved that? To my knowledge the "elite" are still chasing the 200mph dream now.
So I wonder - why is it back then, all those years ago, 1 decade, 2 decades, etc, could the achievements we aim for now (600+ hp and cars reaching over 200mph) be within reach then, but no so now?
Odd innit
