Default DSLR Recommendations

Hi guys,

Looking to get a new camera for xmas - I quite like photography and am capable of taking some 'ok' snaps so want to upgrade from a compact to a DSLR. The problem is budget - the most I can stretch to is £150 so I know I'm looking at the second hand market.

Any recommendations of whats out there for this budget? Looks to be Canon EOS350 or Nikon D40 from a quick ebay session! Need to get lense(s), card, batteries and bag in that budget too....

Cheers,
Chris

Get a 20D/30D with a cheap fast lens like the 50mm 1.8 to start.

Ebay prices for the 20d seem higher than a nikon d40 - which is the better camera? Lenses I'm not too fused about as can easily buy second hand ones later. Essentially so long as any bundled lense will result in better pictures than our old olympus 3mp compact I'll be happy to begin with!
