Chip's May 09 Ring trip pictures
I'll update this a couple of times if I can borrow a laptop again, at the moment its just pictures of our convoy on the way over as rain stopped play today before I got a chance to go to any of the viewing points to get some on track pictures.
In our Convoy we had 6 cars
Si B - Evo - 575bhp
Swetch - Evo - 340bhp
Ian - Focos - 400bhp
Kelv - Focus - 300bhp
Helen - Escos - 711bhp
Ginge - Scooby - 300bhp
Please excuse the blurring on some of the car to car stuff, the cars I was passenger in were the escoc and the silver evo, and both have pretty firm suspension so I was struggling a bit with holding the camera steady enough.
Couple of them came out ok though.

Oh, nothing much mate, he was just putting a pit of heat reflective tape on as his brakes had got a little spongy from heat soak as the master cylinder is near the exhaust, nothing major.
Great car, I had a drive of it earlier, Im really impressed at how well it handles although Ive not really pushed it obviously as its not my car and I was only on the road, feels great though.
Ian has done 2 laps in it so far, I went out to show him where to go as he hasnt been to the ring before, loads of sideways and drama at low speeds as he is on 888s and it was utterly soaking on the second session, great fun though and he always managed to catch it nicely enough.
I dont think he'll be trying any laptimes as there really isnt any point as he simply doesnt know the circuit at all yet and we probably wont get a chance to do enough laps for him to really learn it properly and really give the car some stick, so he's just taking it nice and steady and enjoying it finally being on the road as he only got it all sorted last week.

Yeah that one came out really well, quite pleased with that.
Hopefully I'll get up to some viewing points tomorrow and get some pics of them on track.
Might even see if I can take a few car to car shots on the ring from dave's hire car as it wont matter if we get thrown off in that, apparently its going to be a KIA

Dave and I went and fetched the hire car today, Seat Leon TSi thing, which ended up taking a couple of hours, and I did a few laps as passenger with Ian in the Focos giving him some pointers on where the track goes etc as he is still getting used to it, so I didnt get much chance to take pictures today.
We did get out there once though, got a snap of Ian at showboard and then me and Dave decided to go for a bit of a hike up through the forest from showboat and then legged it across the track while it was shut and scaled one of the television camera stands which is about 40ft high and a pretty good place to take pictures, sadly though Si, Nigel and Kelv were the only ones to come past and only did so once, before it was game over, so I only got a limited number of pictures of them.
I was on a small lens and a high res to make sure that at least they were in the frame as I was only going to get one shot at them, so have then rescaled and recentred most of the pictures, so Im afraid the size of them varies a lot.
Hopefully you get the idea though, luckily despite only seeing the cars once I managed to still get a good few photos of a couple of them as my camera is pretty quick luckily, lol
Si's evo is VERY quick out there, no idea on laptimes but it fucking flies, it was visibliy quicker than everything else that came past us, GT2s and GT3s included.
Pictures in no particular order.

Ive not been out with Si yet, but he's managed to keep coming round with no damage so I guess he is doing ok.
I did hear that he had a bit of a scare earlier on one of the sections with a bit of a hump to it where the back came round as he accelerated across it, but he managed to catch it.
Ive not been out with Sketch yet, but everyone who has so far has been raving about the fluidity and smoothness of how he is putting his laps together, so im definately going to try and get a chance to jump in with him tomorrow.
Im still massively loving the focos, the more time I spend with it the more I want it, was looking at the setup of the front suspension today and how much castor it runs with where AndrewG has mounted the strut tops and its no wonder its got such a good steering angle, must be about half a dozen degrees on it.
Its just an awesome car, although Ian was saying today he wants to go 4wd with it at some point
