1.9l CVH Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection, the head was modified to accept " cut" 2.0l CVH valves and a full hemispherical combustion chamber ,funny though the 2.0l valves are only slightly bigger than the valves in your (UK) 1.6l turbo CVH These heads have a tremendious amount of shared dimensions.

The wheels are 14" inch X 5" with a 4 X 100 stud circle. Original equipment for this escort.

Definitely a sleeper ... this car and engine in stock form makes a whopping 88 hp < I am working on fitting a lip for that bumper to
obscure the view of the intercooler a little .

dyno/ rolling road figures of 299 hp 265 tq @18 psi corrected
driven daily at 12psi 260 hp tune ,-most of which is unchanged table data from the late Escos EEC-IV

Awesome sleeper!

I am in Canada and building an Escort RST clone.
The car is 1986 escort, engine is 1.9 HO.
The head is a 1987 HO being ported - using Burtons stainless
intake and exhaust valves. The intake is a ported HO manifold,
also using a BBK 57mm throttlebody.
Connecting rods are Cosworth.
I havent ordered pistons yet - not sure where to buy from
probably JE, Venolia or Arias.
I will be using the 1988 GT roller lifter camshaft.
Using Crower dual springs and retainers.

What pistons are you using? CR?
Did you have your cylinder head flow tested after the modifications?
What head did you start out with - 1.9 SEFI?

Cheers

Original Ford stock for the 1.9l SEFI , New OEM units were Teflon etched and ceramic topped. The pin bores enlarged to accept floating pins
before balancing.

Rods ,valves and main caps were hardened -treated with the crank as a freebie.. if or when they let go I'm thinking about trying a YB /RWD setup ..
I will probably have enough spares from my Escoss project to build up a second light duty engine.
Besides, the car is so cut up /welded , knocking out another chunk for a hump wouldn't be too crazy

The head is originally a 1.9l

The kent-37 is a little overkill on the street

I welded a tab onto the cam for the cam sensor trigger. That and pressing in the new bearings took too much effort to bother with again....

The D shaped combustion chamber was milled to a full dome (50cc, plus .030 over on the head gasket gives me about 8.4:1 CR

Larger "pinned in" valve seats to suit the larger valves

The valves are from a 2.0l US CVH 97+ , they were cut about an inch shorter and re-grooved for improved retainers

The retainers and locks are titanium units from "Crower"

The double valve springs are "Crane" units listed for a Ford 2.3l OHC turbo engine, as found in the Thunderbird ,Mustang, Capri ,Xr4ti

And just for shits and giggles I milled those ugly lines of the valve cover casting

Would have modified the 2.0l head but theres that annoying variable intake runner foolishness. It had an opposite effect on the flow at high RPM and limited the amount of porting that could be done
...Fine and good torque for an economy car ...worthless for high revs

Thanks all for your kind comments

It will almost fit too ,except the cross pipe wont clear and the outside bolt holes are not drilled ...
ford used only the center bolts to hold it down (and if I'm not mistaken, wont have corresponding holes in your 1.6l head)

Thank you for the head flow data!
I dont have pics of the car posted yet.

You mentioned the heads being from a 1.9.
Were they from a 1.9 SEFI? or an early 1.9 carburettor engine (with the heart shaped chamber)

The SEFI 1.9 I have seen have very small intake ports with a restriction to make them swirl the air - swirl ports.

Do you have any pics of the heads when you ported them?
I would love to see the intake ports.

Cheers

Thanks, the whole bit was done on a $3000 US budget. Unfortunately at that price, pretty was not an option.
Remember this is my daily driver and it's not even a "REAL" escort.
Hardly worth making a show car out of, but it does make a good auto X or Ford day track car and lays down a decent quarter mile on the drag strip.
