First go at light painting, any useful comments will be gratefully received. I think more highlight on the wing top is needed for a start but it wasnt so easy to notice on the camera screen

Great first attempt Stephen, I agree about the extra lighting on the wing as it does get a bit lost in the darkness.

hi guys, fantastic work here

I need some help. I'm struggling to take pictures at night - they end up blue :s or just plain and simply crap

I'll post some examples up -

ok ignore the cropping, but here's an example of the blue(ness) in the picts

Its just the white balance mate, you need to set it according to whats providing the light source, be it tungsten, natural, flourescent etc.. quick tweek will sort it out in PP but best to get it right in camera. Your top pic, has two different light sources (your outside light and flash from your camera), they are different types of light in terms of temperature, your outside light been 'warm' and your flash 'cold'/blueish. Thats why if you dont tell the camera that your using a particular type of light it can come out not how you saw it. Here Ive corrected for the flash but you will see that it has also affected the areas lit by your outside light. If your going to use different light sources then you will have to gel one of them so it gives out a similar colour/temp as the other.

Boost in saturation/vibrance and a bit of an exposure boost. 30 seconds work tops. looks like a serious tank hes got?

Thanks for the help, I am a bit cautios with them adjusters. Some adjustments I took seemed vary strange!

It really is a serious tank, around 750 liters and all the filter stuff in the basement with an extra fishtank for some experiments
