I love the look of this with no spoiler. I need to get my rear quarters painted soon, might take the spoiler off.

I'm in same situation as JohnnyRSTurbo, looking to work on a Mk2 Orion - first ever ford.
Whats the potential in terms of mechanical mods? I've heard you can put a 2 litre Mondy engine in them.. ?
And that lots of the parts can be replaced with escort mk4 parts? is this right?

As already said they utilise the same running gear as the Mk4 Escort so getting parts for them shouldn't be an issue. Although quite a few parts aren't available new from Ford anymore having said that you can easily source most unavailable parts secondhand in fair condition.
Yes it is possible to put the Zetec engine from a Mondeo into an Orion and it has been done so that is an option if you prefer.
As for the potential of mechanical modifications again its the same as the mk4 Escort, so essentially depends on how much money you have to spend!

Hi Rob how are things not seen the S2 for a while although have seen you in a Fiesta a few times, take it all is well.
Yes you have heard correctly I decided I fancied a change and the Orion went at the end of March. Was a sad day and I would be lying if I said I didn't miss it but I think its gone to good home. Got a fair price for it too, I have seen good RST's sell for less than she went for, and tbh imo the seller has an excellent example of an Orion, alot of blood and sweat went into making her what she is today and it's definately on par with alot of better Escort RST's available today and definately a nice alternative to the norm. I just hope the new owner gets the same trouble free enjoyment out of her that I did over the last nine years!
Now just need to sort my sig out as its out of date! lol

i LOVE orions, andy orion, yours was a stunning car!!! remember putting the site address for the build of the car in my faourites ages ago. that was split mint perfect!!

thats my old white 1600E with the bad boy bonnet! G938 KWR. thats the reason im after another onion, i miss it so much. had black series 1 wheels when i had it and standard turbo bonnet

Loving these, think there was another thread recently showing orions.
I had a red h plate 1.6i ghia efi - H425WVO- loved it to bits. Never really done what i wanted to it. Rear arches were on their way and the sunroof was buggered. Got rid of it for something bigger and newer. If i could of afforded it at the time i'd have kept it.
My cousin got me into onions he had a red ghia too slammed on saph cos rims, full janspeed exhaust and a hoooge system in it. done 195k before he got rid!.
Theres a mercury grey f plate near me with some front end damage thats been sat for over a year. I'm so tempted to approach the owner and have it off them but the boss says i'm not allowed at the minute! Wont take much to get it fixed iirc its a tidy example otherwise.
That 1600e is the business. Always liked that blue turbo too on orionregister think his user name was orionturbo. and freakpowers zvh for being a bit different at the time.
