Default my mondeo 4wd

bit on the rare side being both a 4wd and with a phase 2 rs kit on her. as i bought her...

...and the state on her after getting whacked by an unisured polish chap doing about 60, whilst i was edging out of parking space

was lucky i had a steely o the front, and not one of the compo's on that i was supposed to be picking up of jasesapphy the next day, otherwise the guy would be dead. (cheers again to jase for holding on to them) car is slowly coming back, with most of the damage being to the steering rack, though needs new driveshaft, anti roll bar, track rod, wing and bumper. just missed taking out the headlight and bonnet, so i was lucky there. annoying bit is that the car was coming off the road at the end of this month for an zt build. ah well. throttle bodies will have to do for now . instant write off according to insurance, but these are getting thin on the ground now, so i thought i'd repair it myself.

been lurking about

as for the zt, will still be doing it, transfering the tb's over to another car, and getting it done properly. was originally going to be on the cheap. new piston, frs manifold, but gonna be properly done. new rods, newer manifold bigger turbo. can participate in the zt vs yb arguement with a proper drivetrain then

wing and bumper removed. thankfulling no chassis damage

the poor track rod, which took the brunt of the hit i'm guessing

the state of the wheel where it clouted the wishbone. after the wishbone was knocked of the suspension strut. wheel also dented the otherside. now makes a useful seat

newish phase 2 bumper i had lying about, as you do. bought as a spare after getting the fogs, and decided to grab the whole bumper, just in case. really glad i did

pic after removal of the damaged wing. shows how lucky it was to missing the bonnet and headlight, otherwise there would have been a bit more for the other car to hit, and likely spin mine and take out several others

this at the moment is my biggest worry. needs to be completely reshaped. some gentle tlc from a big hammer out to sort that out, but will be done when the car is back on 4 wheels, rather than stands

looking at the damage, I will be suprised if the front beam isn't bent, it doesn't take much,, to bend them, not to hard to change if it is tho.

good luck with the repair

well the engine will be whipped out as soon as the weather picks up. make it a bit easier to have a look what i'm doing with the rack with the lump out the way, so gonna give it a full look over, see what else needs replacing whilst its out, then plumb it all back in.

The mondeo4x4 is kinda rare in the UK i guess.
Doesnt roll too many of them here in Norway either...
But enough for me to get my second 4x4 mondy this weekend.
Think im gonna RWD the "new" one... .
Im building a Turbo Zetec, that might go into the one i normaly drive.
(hars justice on carmods here in Norway. and im always legal )

You keep up the good work, putting that 4x4 back on the streets again.

at the moment got sod all out of him. but i had a message off norwichunion last night to book the car in for repairs. bear in mind they told me it was a write off 2 months ago and my best bet for breaking even was to strip and sell good thing i didn't listen to them then.

i remember the time i had a pair of 4x4's..... so rare i had two. not bad when most people i know didn't even know there was a 4wd varient.

good luck with your turbo. i vote all the 4x4's left should be zt's
