All I can say is holy shit! I went for a ride in a sierra cosworth for the first time on wednesday and the experience left me with a stupid grin on my face for the rest of the day. I've been in 500hp cobra mustangs and for a small 2 litre engine to put out enough hp to run with one just amazed me. For the longest time all I ever knew about cosworths came from the internet and watching videos, but I never got to experience what it really feels like to be pulled back into your seat like that in cosworth.
I've always wanted one since I first laid eyes on an escort cosworth 5 years ago. But due to a 15year rule with importing cars here in Canada, I was left to do nothing but wait. I never really considered the sierras, just because I was more into "escorts" altogether. But after seeing one in person for the first time, it's more about the engine than anything else.
So anyways here's my current ride. I'm planning on selling it this summer, and hopefully land a cosworth before the winter hits.

How long until you can import an Escort Cosworth, is it 15 years since the specific car you want to be imported was built, or 15 years after the last one rolled off the production line.
Would be interested to hear how you get on anway. Good luck

The law states that the car has to be 15yrs old to the month, and from what I've been told (I haven't looked into the production dates yet) they started production of the Escort Cosworth in august 92. So nothing can come across until august. Which gives me a lot of time to get things sorted out. There's some hoops I have to just through first like I have to talk to people from agricultural Canada in regards to what type of cleaner I need to use to clean the car with because the chemicals in europe are different from the ones we have here. Theres lots of work to do but it's so worth it in the end.
This whole weeks been a blast! I rode in a sierra cossie and there was an auto show in Edmonton this weekend and there was Colin Mcrae's old escos rally car in the show. After talking with them, they let my brother and I sit inside! Just awesome! Again with the stupid grin on my face for the rest of the day.
As for the sierra that I rode in, I'll try and get some pics off my phone. But as far as I know, the only mod was 3bar chip and running at 24psi. Stock airbox and stock exaust too. Low milage only about 60k.

Looking forward to the pics of the Sierra.
What do you mean by us Europeans using different chemicals to clean the car? Are we talking bodywork or engine internals?

No, I think it's just chemicals like what they use on the streets and things like pesticides or something. I'm not sure but agricultural Canada wants something done about the cars before they come over
. So as not to "upset" the ecosystem or something like that.
The other problem I'm going to face is finding something in a left hand drive. The rhd is more common and I could live with it, but I'd prefer lhd for simplicity around town. I'm not going to sweat it though, if I can't find a lhd, rhd is fine with me.
